Nurse Enlisted Commissioning Program USAF

Published

Hello, I am in the Air Force. I recently applied to the 2010 Nurse Enlisted Commissioning Progam (NECP). I am waiting for the board results. Anyone else out there as anxious as me?

Carolinapooh I just wanted to say thank you for the words of encouragement earlier in the thread while we were all waiting for the results and for all the research and info that you have provided in other threads as well.

I agree, thanks so much for all of your help! My backup plan was also to try to apply again one more time next year, then separate the year after if I didn't make it. When you really want something, you can't just give up when someone tells you no (at least, I can't). It is funny, I told my hubby who has won weather forecaster of the year and NCO of the Quarter for the Squadron, Group and Wing that I cannot win a quarterly award (past Squadron) to save my life but I can get commissioned. Doesn't make any sense and you never know what "they" are looking for....

I went off subject a little...again, thank you for your encouragement and I am so happy that you succeeded and you are here to guide us! :)

I thought I was the only person who couldn't when a quarterly award to save her life.

kynchanted,

Thank you for your help. I probably won't take the bonus just to avoid all of that madness. What is a 422??

a 422 is the Physical Profile Serial Report. It's the form your primary care doctor fills out to put you on a profile.

As part of your NECP package, you have to get a 422 (which is a Physical Profile Serial Report) that says that you are worldwide qualified and not on any medical assignment limitation codes and do not have a history of emotional instability and are qualified for commissioning. There is an exact statement it has to have that says all of this. It is in the NECP guidelines. All you have to do is go to Public Health and drop off your records (or have them sent over there) and they will do a records review then you will have to go to Flight Med for a few things, then they will make your 422 that says that you can commission. This process took me 3 months....

Once again CONGRATS to everyone who made it!!! I'm about to take the AFOQT on July 8th since I plan on applying for both AECP and NECP. I was just wondering if anyone out there took this test would you mind sharing your scores with me? I'm starting to get nervous now and looking up the average scores lol. However, everything I find is more geared from the perspective of an applicant trying to become a pilot and not for the nursing programs. On another note (does not even begin to compare to all of your accomplishments) I got BTZ :). I get to sew on July 5th. I know it's not much of a big deal, but I'm definitely hoping when I put my packages in it will help stand out some.Thank you everyone!

My husband took that AFOQT, he got 89 Pilot, 98 Navigator, 93 Acad Aptitude, 68 Verbal (he's never been great at Verbal stuff), and 99 Quantitative.. Good luck with AECP and NECP...

BrookeND- My scores are below1st test- 13 Pilot,9 Navigator, 51 Acad Aptitude, 92 Verbal, 19 quantitative

2nd test- 22 Pilot, 36 Navigator, 64 Acad Aptitude, 81 Verbal, 45 quantitative.

Needless to say I'm sure my scores has a bit to do with my AECP nonselection. I think the average selectee scores for AECP look more like Faye27's hubby's scores.

the math is like algebra 1 or maybe algebra 2 level at the most. i think the AECP nursing applicants are at a slight disadvantage there. a lot of the applicants are math/physics/or engineering majors and have had a few semesters of calculus. anyone with that kind of background should have little difficulty getting in the 90's atleast for the math section.

Thank you guys! None of those scores are bad at all! I was reading in the study book I have and it said that the Army no longer makes officer candidates take a test like all the other branches do. Apparently they use your ACT/SAT/ASVAB scores....something to that effect anyways. I wish the AF would just look at my ACT scores, I'm just a little nervous because I haven't taken a test like this since high school of course. I agree about the math and nursing students having a slight disadvantage. For nursing we're only required to have Algebra and Stats. I do love math though, I took Trig. last semester so I hope that will help out. I doubt the math on the test will be Trig. though. The only problem I have now is since i've taken a higher math the simple stuff trips me up in this study book because I think too hard. Oh well ready or not i'm testing :)
