I am a RN can I be friends with a resident?
Huh!?!?? I'm not sure why this is a question unless there is more to it? Assuming you are pass the age where your parents are setting up play dates for you it is okay to be friends and hang out with who ever you want. Now if your talking about hooking up, even then if your both consenting adults, both singe and your doing it on your own time, it's still no ones business.
Don't singe the resident without a safe word.
Well, friends are fine. "Friends" are risky. Some organizations have rules regarding whether you would be allowed to take care of their patients if you are more than the standard platonic friends. In the ER, it is frowned on because they have had some serious issues with nurses and doctors leading to nurses getting fired for "other reasons." One example is a nurse who freaked out when the married ER physician she was sleeping with ended up getting injured in a car accident and she freaked. This lead to everyone wondering why and he painted her as being obsessed with him and stalking him even though they were sleeping together. This lead to her getting fired but he continued to work.
So friends are okay. Friends are great. I go to my friends houses for bbq. Some hunt with them or go on motorcycle trips. Having sex with friends isn't a good thing.
I dated a resident but I told him we would never, ever work together. He was a resident of a different healthcare system thankfully. he thought it was cute "nurse/doctor" but to me it was annoying. Hence why it didn't work out.
I disagree here. I don't think there's anything wrong with this as long as everyone's expectations are met.However...
don't **** where you eat really applies here, doesn't it?
Very much so. I really don't care what people do as long as it doesn't affect me. I think the only time I cared was when an immature friend dragged me into her friends-with-benefits-but-I-want-more fight with my other friend because they were sleeping together behind my back (it wasn't any of my business) and he didn't want her to tell me so I was dragged into it when they fought because she wanted to get back at him by telling me. Oh. This happened twice between the same two and each time I was dragged into it. Messy. Oh, and we were all 23ish at the time. Pain in the neck to be honest.

Hmm...at my hospital we called them "escort." Maybe that's why...
