Nurse Corps Scholarship 2018-2019

Published

Hi Everyone, I'm planning to apply for the HRSA NurseCorp Scholarship this year. I figured I would go ahead and start the next thread for this award year. I'm currently finishing up some of my prereqs and will be starting my BSN program in June. I know the application date hasn't been released yet but from what I have seen on other threads, it should be opened sometime in March/April with a deadline in May. I've also read that the prompt questions have been the same from one award year to the next so I have begun working on them as well as trying to figure out who I would like to use as recommendations. I would love to hear from all who plan to apply this year.

Bank info for direct deposit, W4, an enrollment verification form for this fall and the summer semester. That's all I had to fill out and sign. My status is "in final review". We won't hear from them again until 9/30 but I asked previous recipients if everyone who is selected and accepts the award gets the scholarship and they said yes.

Hi Congratulations, you will be accepted no worries. I applied for full time program but I am trying to drop from full time to par time. However, I am scared to drop in case if I am selected and if they disqualify me because of this. What do you think from your experience. Should I have to keep my full time enrollment until I heard back something.

Thanks

I actually have no more knowledge about this scholarship than everyone else. Lol. I was picked as a finalist for this school year and don't really know. They do talk about this in the guidelines but if I remember correctly, it was for someone who was awarded the scholarship. I think you should call them and ask them but don't say your name (haha). In my opinion, I think that you shouldn't change anything until after you've been awarded and then do it.

thank you for your kind words as well. I'm praying that you're selected as a finalist and we all get awarded as well.

Hi all, I'm a finalist and am worried about finding a facilit yto work in that I want...I can't find any hospitals on their website and am not sure if any of it is accurate. Im really worried, I want to work in critical care in a hospital. Anyone have an advice?

Thats my same worry. I currently work in the VA and I'm not sure if it qualifies but I know that a lot of places that qualify are like community health clinics, rural hospitals and places like that. Im hoping that the VA will be allowed, if not, I'm in the same boat.

so what do we do then? I'm so worried about it. Also, are they going to help us find a place to work? for example, if I want to work in a hospital in Portland are they going to be able to provide that help?

Honestly, I'm going to keep looking every year because I'm not sure how often the lost updates. Also, I do believe there is someone we can talk to after being awarded. I'm also willing to relocate. I feel like a lot of rural areas have hospitals that might qualify. I'm from Houston but go to school in Worcester, Ma. I'm okay with moving.

Also, maybe look throughout your entire state and neighboring states/cities.

If anything, maybe compile a list of places you can/want to work after graduating and then when we're awarded, talk to someone who can help with the process.

Yeah I hope so too, and yeah I'm flexible too and totally okay with moving as well. I only would have a year for the schoalrship so thats why it feels a litlte more urgent for me to figure out where ill be next year.

Completely understandable. I definitely feel like there will be someone to help us after we're awarded. Hopefully. We'll figure this out.

So....still nothing! Am so disappointed!

Totally discouraged too. I don't guess it's possible to actually work as a nurse and get this scholarship :(

I know that you guys are feeling like it isn't going to happen and discouraged. Please keep the faith. I'm still praying and believing for you guys!! It'll come. It's not over until you get the denial email. They have a whole month and they're still sending out emails.
