Nurse Corps Scholarship 2018-2019

Published

Hi Everyone, I'm planning to apply for the HRSA NurseCorp Scholarship this year. I figured I would go ahead and start the next thread for this award year. I'm currently finishing up some of my prereqs and will be starting my BSN program in June. I know the application date hasn't been released yet but from what I have seen on other threads, it should be opened sometime in March/April with a deadline in May. I've also read that the prompt questions have been the same from one award year to the next so I have begun working on them as well as trying to figure out who I would like to use as recommendations. I would love to hear from all who plan to apply this year.

So just talked to HRSA Nurse scholarship Corp today, they said it wont be an issue not having your identifiers on your resume. They also said they have already begun to contact people and will continue until Sep 30th. So I hope we find out soon...

I spoke with a guy earlier regarding the same concern and he told me that I shouldn't worry. However, if the program is requesting more information from me they will contact me via email, which I'm hoping will be for finalist paperwork! After this process is over I don't think I will have many nerves left. This is beyond stressful. I'm hoping the best for everyone! We just have to remember to remain positive. What is meant to be will be :)

I spoke to 2 different people today. The first was a lady and she was so heartless and rude. I told her there was no way i could add it to my birth certificate because it was the original copy. She went into this unnecessary explanation of how i should have scanned my birth certificate print it out and hand write the identifiers..... then she basically said I was gonna get disqualified because of the misunderstanding with the identifiers. I straight hung up on her. Then 2 seconds later i called back and spoke to a guy. He said the complete opposite. That he understands that there was a big misunderstanding and said its normally not something they would disqualify an applicant for. He even said he will make a report and escalate my concern. He said they use it as a way of keeping order because many different people review the documents and do not want to mix up documents. At this point I just need September 30th to be tomorrow.

ViviAkuc44...I'm sorry you had to deal with that. That's super annoying. It's already a stressful process, and to have to deal with a non-supportive individual surely doesn't help. The guy I spoke to was very supportive and happily answered all of my questions. I'm just curious to know when they started notifying applicants. I hope next week will be our week!

How soon did you find out that you were a finalist? Did you receive a credit check prior to the email? I've read in previous threads that some got an offer with or without a credit check.

I got the finalist email about 3 weeks after the credit check.

I am hoping that things will move faster this year, once they do the credit check, given the huge delay in the opening of the application process. I imagine they still have the same internal deadlines for receiving paperwork from finalists who are accepting offers, since the final notification dates are the same even with the late open.

Mind me asking what your credit score was at the time?

MY EFC is a bit higher than 4000, but my program is about 65k, hoping it all evens out

Really?? I thought a credit check was 100% necessary for getting an offer... like if you haven't gotten a credit check by now (well, for the Health Service Corp at least) that you were out of the running. Is that not true?

I don't think the credit score is what they're looking at. They only check Your credit report to make sure that you haven't defaulted in any federal loans.

Good sign of notifications going out soon is what I've heard from previous posts! Keep your fingers crossed and prayers going up!
