Nurse Corps Scholarship 2017-2018

Published

Hi everyone,

I am interested in applying to the nurse corps scholarship 2017 2018 in order to pay for my accelerated program of sixteen months. I have a bachelors in sociology. I have done quiet a few researches. The application cycle will be open this month but I don't know which exact date. I have read discussion threads of previous years and have found really helpful information. I want to create a platform where interested applicants can ask questions, share information, discuss and help each other.

Thanks

"Denials" aren't sent out until all the awards have been received and funding is confirmed via contract for each recipient, so even if you aren't in the running (e.g. low scores on the scorecard) you still won't find out until the end of the entire process.

Being hopeful and optimistic is always a plus though.

Hi! Still not sure if you are an applicant or a scholarship person. I say this nicely but I have noticed you are always on here voicing your advice in most cases contrary to what the post was about. I can tell you that I read the application packet thoroughly and and highlight a lot. I did this three months before it opened up. I also read previous posts. Not to brag but I was an internal auditor. I say all this to say, stop taking every post so literally and wanting to put word in quotation marks in an attempt to correct what you perceive to be misunderstood. My post was about being hopeful and because we are still in the running! We haven't be denied yet! I was trying to be a voice of reason. You assumed I needed to know the timeline for denials. I don't! In fact, you can ask me anything in that packet and I will correctly be able to answer. Some people do read literally every line on a fine print! No offense just wanted to put that out there.

@Cinderella8825, yes I was asking about you. It sounds like you may be in the running for NHSC, so fingers crossed for you! My guess is that they have not done the credit check for NCSP yet.

I am almost buzzing with anticipation. Its hard to think straight these days!

Man you nailed it!!!

Hello33, thanks, felt I needed to say that. It is such a stressful process for us especially since we all know how inconsistent the reps are! Fingers crossed for for us all!

My posts are not contrary to the discussion at all and I didn't assume anything from your post. There are too many people on here that have neglected to read the program guide fully or just don't understand how this program works. My response to your post was accurate and I'm sorry if you feel that it wasn't. Just because you haven't heard doesn't mean you are still in the running.

For example, you could have a crappy application/scorecard with no chance of receiving the scholarship- just because you haven't been denied isn't equal to still being in the running. The same goes for those in Tier 2 and 3 which have never been funded in the history of this program. Being hopeful is great but it shouldn't mean having unrealistic expectations.

I'm glad that you are someone that read the program guide front to back, but there's many people that have not. Everything applicants need to know is in the program guide. Some individuals feel the need to post repetitive questions or dig for answers that aren't available to the public by nagging the CS line, which isn't helpful to anyone and appears to only cause an influx of "OmG, credit check yet!?" or general whiny posts.

Hi all!

First time poster here. I applied to NCSP as well and applied the day it was due. I am direct-entry MSN student with a non-nursing bachelor's degree and just began my FNP program this summer. I opened the application months before and read the packet thoroughly but I finally had the courage to apply. I really debated if this was something I could do (if I was EVEN awarded) because how hard it is to find a critical care shortage facility with the right score and then be offered a position there. Still, I am hopeful and have been awaiting a notification. Have not received any word yet (did not check my credit score either) but just wanted to say that you guys all seem like great candidates and I do hope we all receive the award! Goodluck guys!

As much as I enjoy reading this exchange (feels a little like reading the transcript of a Jerry Springer episode...), may I suggest that we stop with the interpersonal drama? I know tensions are high but we're all here for the same reason: to share information on the process as it develops. I propose a halt to both the condescension and the attempts at kicking people off the forum. Let's all practice the patience and respectful communication skills we're going to need in our future careers as nurses.

Hey guys, just wanted to chime in and say I have a hard inquiry credit check from the Dept. of Education on July 19th. Not sure this is a for sure sign of getting it??? I applied for both Nurse Corps and the NHSC scholarships. Is the credit check a pretty positive sign of being offered the award? There is so much info from last years threads I can't seem to find an answer on if anyone's credit was checked (and good, >700) but NOT awarded...?

@FNPNurseCA, MSN I actually got a credit check from the Department of Education at around the same time as you and I got sooo excited thinking it was a good sign about me receiving this scholarship....but then I realized that I think its a credit check for the Grad PLUS loan that I just applied for haha. Not sure if its the same case for you, but I just wanted to chime in :)

Did you guys apply for student loans? Because the Department of Education will do a hard inquiry.
