Nurse Corps Scholarship 2017-2018

Published

Hi everyone,

I am interested in applying to the nurse corps scholarship 2017 2018 in order to pay for my accelerated program of sixteen months. I have a bachelors in sociology. I have done quiet a few researches. The application cycle will be open this month but I don't know which exact date. I have read discussion threads of previous years and have found really helpful information. I want to create a platform where interested applicants can ask questions, share information, discuss and help each other.

Thanks

How do you know this?

eep, wondering what my future will be and this wait is killer!

Tell me about it. I'm just praying that they don't wait til the last min & leave some of us high and dry. It's so stressful I went though this when I was applying to the program and now here I'm with this....OMG.

Where does it say that on their website? Now you've got me stressed...

When they offered the conference calls to ask questions during the application process, I asked the explicit question of when we might expect to hear from them concerning acceptance/denial. At that time I was told that early august would be the earliest that we should expect to hear anything...but that notification of denials would not be sent until late September and that contact for acceptance may be extended all the way up until that point. Not sure if that helps settle any nerves, or not.

I think what you have said makes the most sense since the application opened almost at the end of March.

That's why I am not worried. We haven't gotten denials yet so we need to continue to be hopeful and not worry ourselves every single day. I am glad I am in a program that keeps me so busy especially now yay we have a month to end the summer term....we will hear something eventually.

"Denials" aren't sent out until all the awards have been received and funding is confirmed via contract for each recipient, so even if you aren't in the running (e.g. low scores on the scorecard) you still won't find out until the end of the entire process.

Being hopeful and optimistic is always a plus though.

i just found this informatiion in the program guidance for 2017 .

"A credit check will also be performed on each applicant's behalf. Awards are subject to the

availability of funds. Applicant award notifications will begin in late August and continue

through September 2017. All applicants will be notified of their final award status no later than

September 30, 2017. "

Hello, All. I'm an RN starting a BSN to DNP program in September and I applied to both NHSC and NCSP.

I've been lurking here and over at the Student Doctor Network as they await finalist emails, too. A bunch of them had credit checks on June 8th (hard pulls from CREDCO), and if last year is any indication, the first round of NHSC finalist emails may go out on or around Friday (last year it was June 27th).

I have not had a credit check, but I'm still hoping to be in another round of checks. It sounds like there hasn't been as much activity for NCSP applicants, anyway. Perhaps there will be a big round of them for us soon.

I have not heard of a single person for either program getting a finalist email yet, so the previous commenter seems right on with the assessment that the BHW representative wasn't giving accurate information!

Anyway, here's to all of you who are hanging in there, hoping and praying! Good luck to all of you!

Hey guys! I got a Credco check June 8, with many of the NHSC applicants. I am hoping that means I am in the finalists! I doubt they pull credit checks on everyone, because it costs money, (and even if that's not the case, I am holding on to that hope!) Good luck to all!

Did you apply to both NHSC and NCSP?

From what I read at the Student Doctor Network, the credit check is a good sign! There have been some who didn't see a credit inquiry show up until much later and some never reported seeing it, but it seems that those who did get the check had a high rate of being offered an award. :)

I hope the NCSP hasn't finished with theirs yet, but I might not be in the running anyway... I think a DNP NP might be Tier 2 and less likely to be selected...?

If you mean me, I applied to both, but my EFC is 15K (which is crap because my parents don't contribute, they just claim me on their taxes) so I am not expecting that at all! I honestly didn't look at the tiers after I heard that the EFC means I won't get it. Yes, I am very hopeful! From what I read, very few people got a credit check and didn't get it, and those that didn't it was usually that they had defaulted. So, fingers crossed!
