2019 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program

Hi Everyone,

I didn't see a thread created for the 2019 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program yet. This will be my 3rd year applying. I'm applying as a staff RN with a HPSA score of 17. Hopefully, they open the application cycle soon.

I am first time applying and got a credit check on 4/27/21. If awarded, do I have to pay taxes on it? I see conflicting information about that. Also, is it a monthly payment award?

YES!  You do have to pay taxes on it.

If awarded they withhold federal taxes, but not state taxes. Depending on your income they may not even withhold enough federal tax. I save a set amount each month to cover state taxes. It is a monthly payout of the award for 24 months. Hope this helps and good luck!

I still have not received a credit check.

I got a credit check a while back. I also got a message in the portal yesterday welcoming me. Did anyone else get that message? Does that mean my continuation was approved?

Yes, I’ve was awarded in 2019 and applied for a third year 

Nevermind, I see wheee I was awarded continuation

Does anyone know of someone not getting a continuation award while meeting all the qualifications? I haven't had a credit check yet and it makes me pretty worried! I received my initial award in 2019. Nurse faculty.
