2019 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hi Everyone,

I didn't see a thread created for the 2019 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program yet. This will be my 3rd year applying. I'm applying as a staff RN with a HPSA score of 17. Hopefully, they open the application cycle soon.

So my Continuation application date last updated changed to today's date .. but I don't know what was updated and no signature? has this happened to anyone else?

No change on the portal for me yet and I'm starting to feel discouraged.  I'm worried about two things: 1) I used all the money I received to pay off my qualifying loans after taxes.  So, if they're expecting that the gross distributions (rather than the net) are applied to our loans, then maybe that's counting against me?  2) I had to enter my federal loans manually which I think dramatically increases the odds that I screwed up my documentation somehow.  I did see that continuations were still being awarded into July last year, but I don't know if that's normal or if the timeline was later due to COVID.  Regardless, I just keep telling myself to be grateful for the two years of funding I've received so far and that even if I don't get approved for the continuation, I'm light years ahead of where I would have been without the original contract.  Good luck to all who are still waiting to hear!

Please do not feel discouraged.  I used the money after taxes to pay off my loans.  I believe they know we would have to use it after taxes.  Secondly, I had to enter my information manually as well.  Maybe they just have not gone through everyone yet.

Mine updated on May 3 but I never had any action or change that I could see on my account. I'm so worried. ?

Any updates for anyone else?

Well, I broke down and emailed them through the portal to ask last week.  Just got this response this morning: “Thank you for your inquiry. You will be notified shortly prior to your August 19, 2021 end date. I hope this information helps.”

That didn’t leave me feeling very confident, especially considering that my application still says it hasn’t been updated since April. BUT.  I opened the application to check the contract anyway and IT WAS JUST COUNTER SIGNED THIS MORNING!  I’m sighing with relief!  And thank you to AnaLong for your words of encouragement on my last post.  It’s always nice to hear positive words when you’re feeling defeated and suffering from a lack of perspective ?

Mine was signed this morning too! And yes, thank you AnaLong! Your encouraging words helped so much during this agonizing wait!! I'm so thankful and really hope everyone is getting good news very soon!!

congrats ladies! curious as to whether you had a credit check prior to getting a countersignature? I have not received any sort of update, but after emailing in the middle of June - received a response that said "Your application is moving along the many steps of the review process. You will be alerted of the status of your award via your participant portal. Thank you for your question. Have a great day!"  but I am definitely losing hope on a third year renewal ?

I did have a credit check on April 9th.  Here's what it said: "

NCLRP/NCSP/HRSA

Inquired on 04/09/2021

5600 FISHERS LN # 8 ROCKVILLE MD, 20852"

My application still says "under review" and my service date has not changed.  There has been no official email yet, and I will not pop the bubbly until there is.  But, I have been countersigned (I've double checked three times now)!  Don't be discouraged!  You're almost certain to get the continuation.  HRSA just likes to drag it's heels, as I'm sure we all know. ?

I got approve the first round but they did not do a credit check nor did they inform me of it. I just knew because I saw the financial detail which was extended by another year

Did anyone else hear back about their Continuation? I have heard nothing and lost hope?

I received my continuation email today! My contract was scheduled to end 8/19/21 and now shows 22! It was countersigned on 7/22. Such a relief! I never had a credit check either. But if it helps, my original award date was 7/22 as well, so maybe they worked off of that.. hope everyone else gets good news today!
