2017 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program

Hi Fellow Nurses!

Is anyone else anxiously awaiting the 2017 cycle opening?

I have applied several times and praying that 2017 is my year. I'm tier 1 - not faculty and not an NP.

Is anyone else out there?

I'm new to this discussion, I have yet to hear anything but under review. I'm a NP site score 17 and DTI of 200%providing all my loans qualify. I have heard of past awards being made up into September. I will keep you all posted if I hear anything.

New to this post- NP - DTI 138%, site score 22 (bt our MH score is 25 - I think they use the higher of the two but unsure). My application still says "under review".

Hello, I've applied to both the NHSC Loan Repayment and Nurse Corps Loan Repayment. I am a family nurse practitioner in rural Missouri. My facility's HPSA score is 16 and my DTI is 144%. My accounts both still say "under review." Will post when I hear something! Praying we hear something soon! Carrying this debt is very stressful!

I sent an email to HRSA, hoping for a better update than what is provided when we call. Basically the email stated that the application process is lengthy, and applicants are just now starting to hear if they were awarded. On the plus side, if they are just really starting to get awards sent out, I feel a little bit more hopeful. Unfortunately though, we may have to wait until Sept 30th to find out we have been anxious for nothing and again, award funds have run out. The only 2 things that I really wish that they would change about this process, is 1- Once you submit your application, and the deadline has passed, on the program portal it should tell you what Tier you are in and what number you are in line., 2- That if funds have run out BEFORE September 30th, that they go ahead and shut it down, so people can move on with their lives.

I'm super grateful that a program like this even exists, but when so many deserving public servants are in need of such a wonderful blessing, communication would go a long ways in helping with our anxiety over whether or not we will receive an award. Still desperately hoping!!!

I'm in the middle of a long stretch of work days and am hoping to save time. Anyone happen to know or have a link handy that details how HRSA prioritizes the loan repayment funds? Is there a hierarchy to the application pool of faculty, NPs, RNs? Or, does each group have it's own pool of funds? OR is it all DTI and HPSA score - without regards to whether you're an NP, RN, or faculty?

It discusses in more detail on the website but basically 50% of funds are reserved for NPs, 20% for faculty, and the remaining 30% is for all other RNs. So essentially if they have the budget ahead of time, which I'm sure they do, each sector has a percentage of those funds allocated from the start. I think where it gets complicated is once they start awarding, they probably have a final review process to determine the exact amount of funds at the time of award (which would differ from when we applied in February d/t interest and payments). I'm guessing that's why they make awards a few at a time.

I'm new to this thread, but I wanted to update that I am a RN, tier 1, DTI 160% and I received an award finalist email today! So keep your fingers crossed, things are starting to move along!

Gotcha. Thank you for the info! I appreciate it immensely. Somehow I missed that breakdown.

Wow! Congratulations! Odd but I haven't seen any NPs post about receiving an award í ¾í´”
