2017 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program

Published

Hi Fellow Nurses!

Is anyone else anxiously awaiting the 2017 cycle opening?

I have applied several times and praying that 2017 is my year. I'm tier 1 - not faculty and not an NP.

Is anyone else out there?

Yes, and they give me the same line regarding being notified by Sept. 30th.

Are the majority of RNs and other APRN (not NPs) responding on here from CSFs or DSHs??? Because 30% is equally split between the 2 types of facilities. That may be why some with a larger D/I ratio or higher tier does not get awards when others with lower D/I ratios are getting awards.

Specializes in Step-down ICU.

I'm a CRNA at a CSF (I think). Honestly CSF vs. DSH has always confused me. How is it determined? Nonetheless, I haven't heard anything. Just a credit check on June 5th.

DSH = Disproportionate Share Hospitals serve a significantly disproportionate number of low-income patients and receive payments from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services to cover the costs of providing care to uninsured. (Usually in urban setting).

CSF= A Critical Shortage Facility is a health care site located in a Health Professional Shortage Area that provides primary medical care or mental health care to underserved populations. (Usually in rural setting).

I am also faculty who heard on July 3rd but no welcome packet. I logged on the other day and my contract was co-signed on august 15. So I truly believe this might actually happen!!!!

Hello everyone,

I am a new grad working in an FQHC for the past 14 months. I received a finalist email Thursday and must respond today. The money is very persuasive (84,000 over two years) but I honestly don't know if I can stay in this job for two more years. I want to grow and move into hospital work. The weblink for critical shortage facilities is broken on the HRSA site. Could anyone speak to the idea of moving into a hospital setting within the NurseCorps program?

Thank you!

You can do anything for 24 months for an extra 84k!!

Thats great Jesstessrn, I don't know whether to be excited that I might here soon or nervous because mine is not co-signed yet! Ha!

agreenpc, is your offer co-signed?

Ya, I'd say suck it up buttercup...that's some serious money.

Yes it is finally cosigned. It took a while!

Hello! I'm an NP in family practice. I've been following this thread. I applied for NHSC only. I received my offer email on 8/15. A coworker of mine did as well. My credit check was in April. My site score is 17. DTI ratio 110%. My facility is a CSF.
