2017 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program

Hi Fellow Nurses!

Is anyone else anxiously awaiting the 2017 cycle opening?

I have applied several times and praying that 2017 is my year. I'm tier 1 - not faculty and not an NP.

Is anyone else out there?

Aaargh...I'm turning into a nervous nelly over this! lol. I'm an NP and had my credit check on June 5. I saw on the 2016 posts that a lot of folks were notified on July 22....but they also had their credit checks done in April. So I probably shouldn't be comparing, but I'm looking for any sign of when/if I will be granted a reprieve of these wretched loan payments! lol. If I get anything I'll post - and I hope all the NP's out there will do the same! Good luck all!

I just starting working at an Outpatient Mental Health clinic and was ecstatic to learn that RNs could receive tuition forgiveness. Now that I have done a little research, it seems applying will be a waste of time for me It appears that I would be a Tier 2 (score is 13) and DTI is

TeresaRRN - Your confirmation email says National Health Service Corps, which is different from Nurse Corps. Did you apply for the NHSC or for Nurse Corps?

I was thinking the same thing there are 2 different programs. Not sure if the emails look different as far as being awarded. I am not an NP so I am not eligible for the NHSC, but in previous years it seems you can apply for both if you are an NP and decide which is best for you. I am going to finish my NP Certificate this year, but I know some NP's stated due to their facility they are only eligible for Nurse Corps and not NHSC, I have not looked too much into it yet.
