  1. Hello! I also applied to the Spring 2018 cohort for the post-masters certificate. I'd love to learn a bit more about the program as well including the online class format (is it self-paced?), exam format (proctored?), and any on-site requirements.
  2. Got my email this morning! Finally! NP, Tier 1, DTI >180%, Facility score 18. Congrats everyone! Now we wait for cosignature! Has anyone heard of finalists not getting awards?
  3. Rgardne1: A credit inquiry does *not* mean you have a good chance of getting it. It simply means that your application was complete enough to get to that point. *NOT* getting a credit inquiry means you will NOT get an award, but getting one doesn't really mean much.
  4. NY1984, still no NP awards as far as I can tell.
  5. So we now have Faculty and RN awards going out for Nurse Corps and some NHSC awards as well. No NPs in Nurse Corps seem to have been notified so far, is that right?
  6. **When you get an award, Please post your stats (role, tier, DTI ratio) so other people can know how far they've gotten down the list in each tier!** A few observations: 1) Nurse Faculty are the only Nurse Corps that has been awarded so far. Also HRSA awards are being made. 2) They've made it to Tier 2 in nurse faculty, that's great news. 3) Looks like Tier 1 Nurse Faculty were awarded last Friday, Tier 2 started this Friday 4) Apparently, they like Fridays for awards but not exclusively. Some seem to have been awarded 7/3, but others were awarded last Friday and this morning.
  7. So far still only Nurse Faculty who have received notifications. I haven't seen any Nurse Corps NPs or RNs with notifications yet.
  8. An aside: Our education simply costs too much. Period. It's amazing to me that so many people are on here desperately waiting to see if they can afford to continue to work in jobs of public benefit. We shouldn't have to rely on these loan repayment programs to be able to repay our debt, and we shouldn't have to mortgage our futures for our education. Our education programs contribute to this problem. Our programs suffer from curriculum bloat that makes NP education too long and expensive, and the nursing preceptor model is outdated and relies too much on 1) institutional support that simply doesn't exist for our programs as well as 2) lengthy, uncompensated individual support from preceptors and there just aren't enough of them. We need to move away from education focused solely on the number of clinical hours (gained, frequently, in settings that are widely varied and provide a vastly inconsistent experience from student to student) to competency-based education. Our profession has pioneered quality online education and is rapidly changing the perception of education delivered online. We should focus on up-scaling this to make NP education streamlined, efficient, and inexpensive. There is a coming crisis in NP education with regard to preceptor availability. This will worsen with the move to the DNP, as will the amount of debt carried by NPs. The DNP is valuable for the profession, and I applaud the move to it, but it is without a doubt an added expense. At a time when we desperately need NPs, particularly in primary care, NP education is more expensive than ever, and additional barriers to practice are erected every day. Post-master's re-specialization programs are too long, bloated, expensive, and inefficient for re-specialization, again focused on clinical hours rather than competency. Our colleagues in other disciplines have degrees that allow them flexibility to move between practice roles and settings, while ours restrict our practice. Once NPs have completed their education, they should be able to use on-the-job training supplemented with online didactic content to prepare for exam-based certification in additional specialty areas.
  9. So the only people who have found out so far are Nurse Corps Nurse Faculty (their credit checks were done earlier than NPs), and NHSC LRP, NOT NurseCorps NPs or RNs. So we can all still have hope, they're clearly doing it in batches like they did the credit checks. I do recall mention of Trump eliminating loan repayment programs except those targeting faculty, however nothing has been passed, and it wouldn't apply to this year, unless he's directed agencies to hold loan repayment for non-faculty. I'm not sure he can do that if it's established by legislation, and further we know an NP in the NHSC was awarded, so I don't think that's the case. I think we can all keep hoping.
  10. TeresaRRN - Your confirmation email says National Health Service Corps, which is different from Nurse Corps. Did you apply for the NHSC or for Nurse Corps?
  11. I keep getting emails from HRSA and I nearly pass out from excitement, only to find out it's a reminder they're having a job fair or online education offering. Someone needs to tell them to stop sending emails until people are notified!
  12. I'm guessing the post from a few days ago is probably right - I think the faculty had credit checks much earlier than everyone else, so they must be processing it in batches. Since some is reserved for faculty and some reserved for NPs I bet they do them in that order. Here's hoping we hear soon! NP, Tier 1, Facility score 18, DTI 182%
