Hello All,
I am applying for the nurse corps loan repayment program 2016 cycle, I just spoke to a representative who told me the application cycle opens up tomorrow. For those of you who have applied any tips advice etc.? I am very excited about this opportunity because I have an outrageous amount of loans.
I did the exact thing, i did it on my husband's loans also i had them in the incorrect payment plan that was not an IBR plan, lost 3 years of payment maybe more.
RN- applied for NELRP, 117%, Site score of 16...I hate this whole process, and it makes me sick to think that we only have a month left to find out if there are enough funds to go around to any more of us. UGH! GAH!
Also, I just found out that the remainder of my loans were sold to NelNet, and the interest rates are crazy high for some of my highest loans. Fantastic...
And a BIG FYI*** I was also just informed that if your student loans are NOT consolidated, that not all of your loans will qualify for the PSLF (Public Service Loan Forgiveness). I've been paying on my student loans for 5 years and only had another 5 years until I THOUGHT that I would qualify for the PSLF. WRONG!!! Only a few of my loans were eligible. So now, I have had to consolidate my loans that weren't eligible and my 10 year term STARTS OVER!
I don't regret my loans because I wouldn't have my BSN, but these loans are KILLING me! I'm at such a loss as to what to do...

My loans are with Nelnet as well. I have been logging in and paying my interest pretty much on a daily basis for a while now. I couldn't figure out why my balance wasn't going down and I finally realized I was being charged about $10.00 in interest, EVERY day!!
Got awardee notification August 10, I have been anxiously waiting for it to be countersigned. Following this discussion for awhile trying to get any information. Has anyone ever heard of some one getting the awardee notification and not the award? My HPSA score was 17, good luck to everyone. Anyone know any past or current awardees?

I received loan repayment back in 2010 as a new NP graduate with a score of 12 (it wasn't nearly as competitive like it is now). Graduated with my doctorate last year and applied again this year at a new location.

So you were able to get the repayment for NP and then you were accepted just for doctorate loans. I was wondering if only doctorate loans would qualify and they call center rep said no those loans don't qualify. I asked because I wanted to go back for doctorate but was second trying to look at financial possibilities
Hey All,
I just recently found this discussion board (two nights ago) and then proceeded to have a melt down because I had not heard anything about my status for the NLRP. I checked at 2am last night and it said under review. I pulled my credit report and I did have an inquiry in April. I pretty much lost hope due to everyone saying that it's pretty late in the game. However, today, when I checked the website my status had changed! I accepted and signed the contract and now I am under final review pending program funding. It does say that all awards will be disbursed no later than Sept. 30th. So don't lose hope just yet. I am a 1st year applicant, 165% L/I ratio, and HPSA 17. As for when I submitted my application, I started early but didn't have all my items to submit until about 2-3 days before closing. I have no idea how they select and there doesn't seem to be any indication of what to expect. I am thankful that I am now one step closer. Now hoping that funding is still there for me. Good luck to all!!!
