Hello All,
I am applying for the nurse corps loan repayment program 2016 cycle, I just spoke to a representative who told me the application cycle opens up tomorrow. For those of you who have applied any tips advice etc.? I am very excited about this opportunity because I have an outrageous amount of loans.
Has anyone been countersigned in the last couple of days? I went under final review on August 2,and still no countersign. They have not contacted my job or anythjng. I'm starting to panic
I am also in the same boat. I think they are just taking longer to countersign this year. Hopefully soon!
I was feeling crazy so I sent and email just for fun!!
They replied Unfortunately they do not release information as to how many people are awarded so far and if they are still awarding RN's. This process will take up to September 30th and there are still people being selected.
If you have any additional questions please feel free to write back or call us at 1-800-221-9393. We are open Monday-Friday 8am-8pm EST.
As I stated previously, this process is just EXHAUSTING! I wish there were a better way for them to break down their EXACT process for awarding applicants. We just aren't given ENOUGH information about the process.
Also, for those of us who are still patiently waiting to hear...(4years for me), can new awardees please post which award you applied for, your D/I ratio, and site score please?! That will kind of let the rest of us know where we may fall in the final award cascade. Thanks so much!!!
Also, from previous years, I NEVER heard of an awardee who was signed and then NEVER countersigned. Congratulations to all of you who have been awarded. I think y'all are all in the clear!
Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!!!

Is your facility located in the RGV? I was also born and raised in Harlingen and like everything else, the Valley was ALWAYS the last to hear anything. LOL!! Don't give up hope! I think they go by region.

A little hope left for us, maybe...
I moved here 12 years ago my husband is from here, we met in Kansas where i went to nursing school, and he was playing football there. i work at Valley Coastal Bend VA as a Utilization Review Nurse, i am trying to get into the Post MSN FNP certificate program at Corpus Christi A&M, so then i can be eligible for both grants, but I also want to be an FNP!! Small World!! I really like it here after 12 years finally!! the pay scale for nurses is really high at the VA here.

Thank you for saying what I wanted to say!! Its getting all mixed up between awards, since RN's are only eligible for this one and NP's are eligible for both grants. I try to restate each crazy quote i put that I am an RN applying for NELRP 140% or around there HPSA 17.
I feel like we are all crazy friends from Late June until September waiting to hear back!! so far the lowest RN i have seen is 170%, it looks like the HPSA as long as you are above 14 and in Tier 1 is not the main factor like it was previous years, its the D/I ratio first. So a nurse with D/I of 140 % and HPSA of 20 will not get awarded over a nurse with 180% and HPSA of 14. That is what i understood, but last few years it was different.

Thanks I'm a np too but didn't bother applying to nelrp because my debt to income ratio is too low to even think about getting it. My site score is 17 but I've seen a clinician who got nhsc with a 15 score. HRSA said it goes down by score, with preference given to ppl from disadvantaged background and by likelihood of clinician staying in the underserved area. How they can tell that idk unless they look at work hx on CV we submitted. Its frustrating. If I may ask did you submit a disadvantaged background form?
