Nurse Corps Loan Repayment 2016 Cycle

Hello All,

I am applying for the nurse corps loan repayment program 2016 cycle, I just spoke to a representative who told me the application cycle opens up tomorrow. For those of you who have applied any tips advice etc.? I am very excited about this opportunity because I have an outrageous amount of loans.

I'm still waiting on a countersignature...

I'm thinking ahead here in terms of preparation. But from what I'm reading is that we will be federally taxed for the repayment... so do I need to act as if this is part of my total salary for the year (in determining tax brackets, etc)?

(I'm not great with accounting / finance at all!)

I would have extra federal taken out of your check every week to be on the safe side

I am an RN, BSN.. but in school for NP. I applied for Nurse Corps only, of course. My app says "under review" still. I haven't given up. I wonder if they have decided to deny altogether if Under Review will change to a hell no, or anything else? :) I hope they do consider interest. Also, my earlier course work was not toward a nursing degree, though I used some of it for that. I don't know if they pick through it or just process an award for total loan value for undergraduate.

For Nurse Corp they pick through and only base you award amount based on your loans towards your nursing degree. So for example I have about 300k in total student loans however only 205k were for my RN and APRN schooling so my award about was 60% of the 205k. Hope that helps...

I was countersigned at 10am this morning. No welcome packet yet. I just see that the secretary has signed my contract. Waiting on the welcome packet now. Good luck to everyone!!!

Congratulations everyone! I didn't recieved my finalists email till Aug 5th so it seems I might have some waiting yet.

Anyone know how long until the first disbursement after countersign? Just curious.

For the Nurse Corps Program, those who have received their welcome packet, did they give you an idea when your first deposit would come through?

Mine said withing 45 days of countersigning....if I dont get a deposit by the end of the month after I signed (end of Sept) I am to notify them.
