Nurse Corps Loan Repayment 2016 Cycle

Published

Hello All,

I am applying for the nurse corps loan repayment program 2016 cycle, I just spoke to a representative who told me the application cycle opens up tomorrow. For those of you who have applied any tips advice etc.? I am very excited about this opportunity because I have an outrageous amount of loans.

They def didn't find all tier 1 applicants. I did not receive the award last year and I was tier 1. I'm still waiting as well. Doesn't look promising

I guess they just know how to word everything to make it sound like they fund a lot more than they really do!! the statement "95 percent of those awards were made to RNs and advanced practice registered nurses working in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) with scores of 14 or higher."

makes me think that 5% even went to those in a lower tier!!

Have thereceived been anymore countersigning?

Nothing here yet. Headed into week 3.

I signed my contract August 6th. I stalk the website daily and it still says Accepted Award - Under Final Review.

What is the next step and what time frame should I expect? Is the counter signing the next step and does that take weeks?

In the same boat as you. Not sure what happens next.

I got notified today that I am a finalist! I can't believe it- this late in the game I was sure I was out of luck!

What was your DTI %, if you don't mind me asking. Just trying to keep my hopes up. I'm still waiting.

190%. HPSA of 16 at an FQHC. I am a CNM in CO, it is my second year applying.

I had completely lost hope, but received a finalist email today--so late in the game. RN, BSN tier 1 with a 175% D/I. I'm reading a lot about the award being disbursed in a lump sum, but the manual says it will be monthly installments over 24 months...anyone have any insight? Thank you!

Well I can see there is still hope!! But I am only RN tier 1 140%, but hey glad to see they are still awarding RN's!!

I think it depends on the actual award you applied for. NHSC loan repayment pays in one lump sum. The Nurse Corp repayment pays monthly. Or at least that is my understanding of them. I could be wrong.

For the recent awardees of the HRSA LRP, what was your HPSA score? There are 3 of us in my area applying and none of us have heard. I am happy to hear awards are still going out. This is starting to be a real nail biter......
