Nurse Corps Loan Repayment 2016 Cycle

Hello All,

I am applying for the nurse corps loan repayment program 2016 cycle, I just spoke to a representative who told me the application cycle opens up tomorrow. For those of you who have applied any tips advice etc.? I am very excited about this opportunity because I have an outrageous amount of loans.

Where is the countersign? Did your screen change?

No screen change but when I opened my agreement instead of just my signature it also has the secretary signature below mine now electronically signed at 10:24 am today.

Congratulations! Where does it show its countersigned?

When you login it shows the notice that I accepted award yada yada and then when I click on "Your NURSE Corps Loan Repayment Program signed contract" the second page shows my signature and below it the secretary signature. It was not that way before today.

Thanks for posting this I didn't even think to check there, I don't have a countersign yet but I will be looking out for it now

I wonder if they countersign in the order initial notifications went out. Will keep an eye out.

July 20th was when I signed my contract and went into final review.

So just wondering what to do about my monthly payments while waiting for the disbursement? I pay over $500 a month and will have at least 2 more payments before the lump sum is deposited. Can I defer those payments until I receive the award or should I continue making payments? My coworker is deferring her payments until she receives the award but I wasn't sure if that would affect the terms of the agreement I just signed?

No, a deferment will not cause harm. My loans are under deferment now, because I am in school

I won't be able to defer them anyway. :sniff: Navient said I would have to show hardship or be in school to defer and I don't qualify for either. I called customer service at the LRP and they said I just have to return the unused amount after paying the loans off (which will only be about $1000).

Yes!!! Just today! No email with welcome packet yet but I checked my app and it does show a countersign!!!

I just recieved my welcome packet and my screen now directs me to the partipant portal with all my documents when I log in.

I am confused....why do you have to pay anything back? Since they only pay 60% you would still have a balance after all the disbursements.
