Nurse Corps Loan Repayment 2016 Cycle

Published

Hello All,

I am applying for the nurse corps loan repayment program 2016 cycle, I just spoke to a representative who told me the application cycle opens up tomorrow. For those of you who have applied any tips advice etc.? I am very excited about this opportunity because I have an outrageous amount of loans.

Tier 1 NP, HPSA 17, DTI 150%. Got my finalist email last night! Good luck to everyone still waiting...

Hey everyone! I received my finalist email last night. I'm an ACNP in a tier 1 facility w/ a DTI of 158%. From all of the forums I've read from previous years, Ive never seen anyone post that they didn't receive the award after getting a finalist email so I wouldn't worry too much!

Congrats to those who have received it. good luck to those still waiting to hear.

Dang it so strange I am glad NP's are getting the award it just so late to me and very few RN's. Just soon late in the game and NOT seeing RN's getting notifications.

There are some RNs in this forum that have posted they received it. I think though that more NPs may receive the award because they often have more school debt since they have masters degrees or higher. In theory they make higher salaries than RNs but realistically the pay scale for NPs isn't drastically more depending on where you live. At my facility there are bedside nurses with NP degrees who make so much that they would go down in salary of they leave to be an NP.

Dont lose hope though. There is still time left.

I'm still hoping to hear some good news you just never know. My friend who is an RN received her finalist email about 2wks ago. We work at the same hospital but I know her D/I was 200%. This waiting game is so nerve racking!

Congrats to all those new finalists! Hopefully that means they have gotten some declinations from the first round, have more money and now are making a second round of offerings!

Nope still patiently waiting I called and a rep told me that there won't be any additional credit checks or site verifications at this point and they will have all awards out by Sep 30th.

No, I'm still under final review... still holding out hope

How is the debt to income ratio determined? Of course I submitted my loan info and salary, but how do they come up with the percentage? Is it found somewhere on the portal? Thank you!
