  1. Forgive me if this was already mentioned as I didn't read all the comments but I wanted to offer my two cents: I was reading the HRSA report of the projected surplus in 2025 (which was written last year) and noticed that they originally predicted the projected 2025 shortage in 2001...before the market crashed. I was in an awesome sales position after graduating with my business degree and probably would have never left that position. But after the crash I was out of a job and had mouths to feed so I went back to school and took a chance at being an RN. I new school would only take 2 years to obtain my ADN and everyone was raving about "how much money nurses make". The point of this is to say that I was forced to switch career paths and took a gamble on nursing and I know I wasn't the only one who made the same decision as a result of the market crash. Fortunately, it worked out to be the BEST DECISION I have ever made. I loved working in the ICU so much that I went back to school to become an FNP and I absolutely love it.
  2. I just received a response in my portal that said my funds would be deposited Dec 1st. Isn't that more than 90 days???
  3. Wow! Apparently they are waiting the full 90 days. My colleague said that when she was awarded last year, she received her funds about 60 days into her contract. She was surprised that I had not received anything yet.
  4. I am in the NHSC LRP program which pays a lump sum of $50k. Just curious if any of those participants on this site have received their funds? My contract start date was Sept 1st. Thank you!!
  5. My colleague said that she received her lump sum last year around the middle to the end of October. I have never done online banking so I check at the ATM every few days. Nothing yet.
  6. Is your facility located in the RGV? I was also born and raised in Harlingen and like everything else, the Valley was ALWAYS the last to hear anything. LOL!! Don't give up hope! I think they go by region.
  7. Rural West Texas and I was notified 8/10.
  8. My facility score is 17 and I did not submit a disadvantaged background. I think they are still sending out the awards and it seems it is region based. My colleague and I both received our acceptance to the program at the exact same time and she applied much earlier than I did.
  9. I was awarded the NHSC LRP which pays back up to $50,000. I only owe 45K.
  10. I won't be able to defer them anyway. Navient said I would have to show hardship or be in school to defer and I don't qualify for either. I called customer service at the LRP and they said I just have to return the unused amount after paying the loans off (which will only be about $1000).
  11. So just wondering what to do about my monthly payments while waiting for the disbursement? I pay over $500 a month and will have at least 2 more payments before the lump sum is deposited. Can I defer those payments until I receive the award or should I continue making payments? My coworker is deferring her payments until she receives the award but I wasn't sure if that would affect the terms of the agreement I just signed?
  12. I don't know my Tier and I am not sure how the DTI ratio is calculated? Do I include just my student loans or ALL consumer debt?? My site score was 17.
  13. I just received my acceptance e-mal from NHSC this morning!! I immediately submitted my bank account info and acceptance of the award. The e-mail said it still needs to go under "Final Review" but awards would go out no later than Sept. 30th. Does anyone know how long it "really" takes to get the funds deposited? I am over the moon excited about all of this!!
  14. I received my acceptance e-mail this morning!! I applied to the NHSC and I am an FNP.
