Here's a link to this story I saw yesterday in our local paper. http://www.eveningsun.com/Stories/0,1413,140%257E9956%257E2908493,00.html
He IS helping this family. I disagree that he "traded" his help for TV ratings. I hope you don't watch the evening news. How dare they show vioence and crime. This is reality honey....wake up. It could be you or your neighbor getting punched and kicked. Is it the classy thing to do to keep it quiet, not expose it?
Yes, the classy thing to do is to privately seek help, and keep videos of you beating your drunk husband, with your kids watching, off of TV. And yes, Dr Phils show, although some help was offered, is exploiting the suffering of this family for commercial gain. Can you imagine a therapist engaging in this type of public display of his clients problems? It's unethical in my opinion.
It's bad enough that those kids have to go through this, but now they have to go back to school and suffer the embarrassment and possible ridicule of their peers who now all know about their less than stellar parents!

Uh... yes, the classy thing to do is to not expose a family's troubles on national television. I believe that was the point I was making in the first place. And please don't call me honey. It creeps me out.

Oh, yeah I forgot to mention the 'honey' crack. Addressing someone by the term is sometimes perceived as condecending. It carries a negative, and sometimes not classy, connotation to it.

I agree. This is one of the situations where it is perceived as being condescending, because it was. In keeping with TOS, I can only politely request that it doesn't happen again, and hope the poster will honor that request.

Are you KIDDING me????????????????????????????????????????? Geez.........by the way, if anyone cares about what I was thinking as I typed the word....it was not meant to be condescending, but merely a figure of speech. Glad to see the ganging up hasn't changed. :chuckle
And let's remember...this is a free country; this family agreed to appear, they were not tricked by the evil mastermind Dr. Phil. :angryfire
Funny how only certain people can have an opinion.
