I live in California and was wondering where to get my Neonatal Resucitation certification because I'd like to float to mother/baby every now and then. I've e-mailed my education department and am getting nowhere and I don't know where else to go.

Also, I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to post this :D

Do you have an educator for your unit? I would call that person. I highly recommend NRP if it is an option. Maybe call or show up at the education department if you don't have a unit eduacator

I got it through a private company. You didn't say what part of the state you are in, so I don't know if it would be any use to you though.

Anyone know where to get Neonatal Resuscitation Certification in Virginia? Thanks

Call other NICU'S in your area. You might be able to find a class in a different hospital. Or go to aap.org website and find the nrp site. and look up classes near you they sometimes have them posted .

Google NRP in their web site there are many classes listed.

You can go to http://www.aap.org/nrp/nrpmain.html and look on the right hand column to see the 5th option which is Locate a Course or Instructor. Click on that option and it takes you to another page where you can look on the left hand column and choose to search by either Locate a Course or Locate an Instructor and then enter the information for your area and viola, you will have some answers. Many instructors also have their email addresses listed in case you want to contact them personally. The information is very reliable because this is the American Academy of Pediatrics NRP Instructors list which is kept current. Depending on your insturctor's preference, you can even take your written test online (for a fee) and then do the actual simulation for being a NRP Provider with an instructor (usually no charge). I highly suggest you buy your own NRP book and study well. It has a wonderful CD ROM included with the book which is fantastic! I think the book is less than $50 and I bought my most recent one on amazon.com.

If you have trouble with the link above, go to www.aap.org and look on the bottom left where is says Professional Education and click on the third option which says Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). This will take you to another page where you click on the top right option which says NRP. This will take you to the page I have linked at the top of this message.

Good luck in your endeavor!

If you already work in NICU, I'm surprised NRP is not a requirement already. Most NICU's require it and teh hospital usually will provide a course.

Good luck
