NP job paid by dictation notes not by hour

I got a part-time job offer working at a LTACH. The physician offers to pay me by the numbers of dictation notes ( H&P and progress notes) not hourly salary. He offers to pay me $30 per H&P per patient, $20 per progress note per patient. What do you think? Please advise, thank you

Lets see it takes at least 45 mins for H&P (to ensure everything is covered you complete 2 of those after the 45 mins) add 10 mins each for dictated note: you are at an hour each H&P for a total of $30.00 per hour. Progress note you can do all of the necessary time in say 30 mins. I am being realistic for a SNF it is not an easy 10 min appointment. So say 2 an hour at 20.00 per note so $40.00 per hour.

Then you have to be ready for the calls from the staff about the order you wrote, clarification, new orders, this order did not work, patient already tried therapy... the list could go on. If you were going for this I would most certainly say to the provider who offered this to you that I want a minimum of $ XXX.00 on the days I work regardless of what was completed. You could really stick it to yourself if you have several high acuity patients.

Although with as painstakingly thorough as some NPs pride themselves on being I doubt there are many employers willing to bite at this type of offering.

In this business, you do have to prove yourself. For the amount of money involved, I can understand it.

You have to show you can do the job efficiently.

I have known more than one person who could not.
