Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

i'm also planning on taking the ncelx in november. am putting it off until then because i want to use suzanne's plan. i've been hard at work doing her first tip and have come to the end of that. in the meantime, before i get her next tips, i plan on studying the book, prioritization, delegation & assignment by lacharity, etc. we did a review at our school, too, which i hope to be able to review. i don't know if i can do all of this -- don't know how much time it will take to do suzanne's plan.

any ideas for making this forum extra helpful?

i really appreciate the fact-throwing forum.

keep studying! (but remember to smell the roses!)

Congrats stefano!!! :nurse::hpygrp:

This will be my first time taking the exam...I will be taken my exam on Nov 21st 2008 at 8am... I have been studying for the past few months and I am using saunders, Kaplan for strageties and hurst review which gives alot of insight about the NCLEX....We all can do this...It must be done...It can be done...

Just wanted to let you know the results of my test...

We tried to get onto the web site to find out the quick results, but the web site was down for the next "12 hours." We tried calling the 900 number in order to find the results, but it would not go through on either the land line or the cell phone. So we had to give up for the evening.

The next morning my daughter was able to get into the web site, and she called me and hesitated. Then she said, "I'm sorry to have to tell you...." , but then she told me that I PASSED! She put a bit of fear into my heart, but I was very happy for the good news!

Thank you for your support, and good luck to my fellow November test takers!

Now for the job search!

just took my nclex earlier and stopped at 130+ questions.. and had only 3 satas and no computations...

answer as many prio and deli type questions.. and make sure its the more difficult ones.

good luck!!!

hope i pass,,, the last 10 questions in my nclex were correct ( i think ) ^^

YAYYYY congratssss

STILL PRAYING FOR ALL OF THE REMAINING TEST TAKERS

Ok.. so as some of you know I took the NCLEX for the second time on Thursday, and I AGAIN had 265 questions. This time however, I walked out of there in a different mood. Not better, just different. On my way home, I told myself regardless of the outcome, I have alot to be thankful for. I prayed and told God that if it is not my time, I will not question him. I will accept it. I did find out this morning that I passed. :bowingpur It it a surreal feeling, almost shock like... I am relieved that I will never have to take this again. Don't know if I should laugh or cry. I want to thank everyone on here for their encouragement and prayers. I wish all the luck to everyone who is testing, and I will pray for you as well.

To stefano...please keep me posted I will thinking of you on the 12th!

Hi Adiaz,

Thanks for your encouraging words. I took my nclex on the 12th Nov. 08, I had 75 questions and failed but reading that you passed the nclex the 2nd time around I feel more confident now and plan on retaking it early next year.

Congrats and God Bless ....:)

Congrats roadrunner 14

Forgot to tell you that I went to the NCLEX testing site hoping that my test would cut off at 75 and, would you believe -- it DID!

As for study tips, I recommend Suzanne's plan. I cannot say I used her plan exclusively, because I wanted to study MORE -- quite nervous about the test -- at least had a healthy respect for it, and I had the time to put in, so I chose to do the following, changing my strategy as time went on. I ended up with the following daily goal:

Suzanne's plan

30 minutes Infection control

30 minutes going over medications

75 questions from the NCLEX 3500 site (quite different than the Saunders) (started this in the last couple weeks prior to the test)

30 minutes studying rationales from NCLEX-type questions (I used the copy & paste feature when doing NCLEX-type questions from a CD and the NCLEX 3500 site)

30 minutes studying the Facts Throwing forum on this site

30 minutes going over the cards I had been making online throughout school (adding info to them from the Facts Throwing site -- made it more complete

Several pages in my Prioritization, Delegation & Assigning book

This method seemed to work quite well for me. I am glad I took 3 months to study and spend time with family & friends, as I worked VERY hard in nursing school!

Good luck to all of you who are still going to test!

The advice I got from this board to make sure you know what the question is asking is very good. I would summarize the question in my mind as to, "What is RIGHT?", or "What is WRONG?"

Also, take time to read the questions to make sure you know what it is asking. I liked the posting that said to make sure you try to do your best on the first 75 questions -- good advice!

It is a critical-thinking test, but you do have to have the knowledge in order to figure things out. I am still wondering what the correct answer is to one of my critical thinking questions. It was quite tricky -- wanting to know what the lab results would show if a certain condition was resolving. I had not thought of it in those terms before -- guess I'd better check that out, as that's the one question that is playing havok in my mind.

I kind of felt cheated, as I didn't get to use my white board to work on medication calculations, which I LOVE! I thought I would have to go get another white board when I used my first, but I hardly put anything on the first one!

I was surprised to finish in 1 hour and 40 minutes -- to think all of my nursing student career could be "summarized" in that small amount of time! I don't think I had any OB or child deveopment questions, etc. (How can this be)?

Anyway, I'm glad it's over!

I hope those of you who are taking their test before Thanksgiving will have an extra reason to be THANKFUL!

:ancong!: very inspiring,,, i hope I could do that too
