Nova Southeastern University Entry Level BSN Winter 2014

Published

Hi future nurses! I've been searching for a recent forum of the BSN program for Winter 2014 but couldn't find any so I decided to make one myself. I applied to the Winter 2014 BSN program at NOVA. All my prereqs are done, my GPA is 3.7 and my science GPA is 3.5. I was hoping to receive feedback from anyone who has applied in the past or is currently applying like myself to the Winter 2014 program! Have any of you gotten an interview call yet?:nailbiting::nailbiting:

Ok here it goes, I got a 64% I am so embarrassed. I got an 81% on the HESI...I don't understand. I feel like I did not have enough time to prepare, you know people pay for classes for the Kaplan before they take it so the time given was very unfair. I see a lot of people score 60's 70's but I got a 64!!! I have a strong GPA yes but I am so scared now. How did you do ?

Don't be too worried. The Kaplan was kind of just told to us it was a requirement 3 weeks before the interview. They did say the test was just going to be taken into account, but it wouldn't be the only factor in their decision. If u did well on the interview, essay, and your GPA is strong I feel like that is something they cannot ignore and hopefully for you and I both the Kaplan doesn't play the major part in their decision.

hello! I applied for the nursing program at the fort myers campus! I have a friend in her first semester there this fall and she loves it! interview and exam tomorrow!! so nervous for the exam the interview I think I can handle :)

Specializes in Emergency Department.

I got a 66% which is horrible but like I said there wasn't really enough notice to study or it the way one would need to in order to do extremely well on it. I've been out of school working fulltime waiting to get into a program since last May so I can't say I studied well enough for it. I'm hoping my GPA and interview went well enough for them to consider me.

A 66 for your overall score or for just science since I'm hearing that science is the hardest part... Which campus are you applying for?

It takes the overall correct score right ? So it's the one at the top of the page ? I saw at the bottom the breakdown is grades for each section. I have always been since a child an above average student in reading, writing and vocab so I truly don't understand how this happened .. Oh I know ! No time !!!!

I'm in! I just got my acceptance email!!!!!

I shouldn't really ask what people got on the exam but .. I just would like to know what's the average everyone has gotten ? Like , lots of people score In the 60s to 80s .. I feel like I don't have a chance

What did you get on the Kaplan? I am not trying to be a know it all but when I spoke to mallory, she said that they might wait to compare you to someone else who is a stronger interviewer, so you may not get the email yet but thats the only thing i am thinking and this goes for myself as well. I took the test and interview yesterday and I am so worried.

@yankeesgirl907, I just got my acceptance. So, I figured I'd share my kaplan score. My overall score was 79%. I did really well on every section except science. So, the science dropped my overall score to 79%. Also, I know that the critical thinking score shown at the bottom wasn't factored in, but they did provide a score for that too. I got an 88% on critical thinking. I think I did really well on the interview and writing sample. My overall gpa is 3.35 (not the best) and my science gpa was 3.75. Hope this helps. :-)

First off, congratulations on your acceptance!! I can imagine how exciting that is !!! Secondly, you said the critical thinking was NOT factored in? Does that mean if the number at the top of the result screen that said "overall correct 64" could that possibly be higher if they do not factor in the grade for the critical thinking section? I didn't know that. My science GPA is 3.72 (I thought it was 3.8) and overall Broward Cumulative GPA is 3.56. I hope I have a chance, please let me know about the critical thinking . Also, is there a way to see the results now? I only saw them yesterday after the test for a few mins.

@yankeesgirl907 The best thing to do is to talk to your advisors. They'll be able to tell you your chances with your scores.

Hey guys,

Has anyone ever heard of being accepted to one campus but ending up going to another? I was accepted to Fort Myers but had a change of heart and I would like to attend the Miami or main campus. I'm sure I'd have to interview again but has anyone heard of this happening? Especially so late in the game...

I only have a week to answer Fort Myers. I called them to talk about it and they told me what I just said and of course there's a possibility of me not getting accepted into another campus. Emailed Ms. Alvarez today.
