Hi future nurses! I've been searching for a recent forum of the BSN program for Winter 2014 but couldn't find any so I decided to make one myself. I applied to the Winter 2014 BSN program at NOVA. All my prereqs are done, my GPA is 3.7 and my science GPA is 3.5. I was hoping to receive feedback from anyone who has applied in the past or is currently applying like myself to the Winter 2014 program! Have any of you gotten an interview call yet?:nailbiting:

I also applied for Winter 2014! I did receive a call about a week ago, I was notified that they have integrated an entrance test. (Kaplan Nursing exam). If we get an interview, we take it the same day we go. :/ By the way, for your science GPA, did you just calculate a&pI and II with labs, micro with lab, and chem?
Also, she said they start notifying people for interviews around sept. 23rd. Those that have completed all prerequisites that is. Unfortunately, i'm still taking a&pII and stats. She said I would possibly be notified for an interview late october.
For my science GPA, yes I calculated all the prerequisites. Also I just got an email about that kaplan nursing exam. How nervewrecking! I didn't receive a call though, just an email. I'm even more nervous now because of the entrance exam! I might order the book and study my butt off to be more confident if chosen for the interview.
How are you doing in a&pII & stats? Also whats your overall gpa & science gpa?
Yes!!! Very nerve wrecking, I emailed one of the undergrad nursing ladies asking if it was a "pass or fail" type of exam, and how much it really weighs in the admission process. Also, I'm doing good in a&p2 and stats so far, only the 3rd week. I'm hoping to get A's in those which would bring my over all gpa to a 3.4, and science to a 3.9. So nervous about the exam now...
Your science GPA is really good! I'm nervous for the exam too. Has the undergrad lady responded back to you? I was wondering if it's a pass or fail exam too. Or like the HESI, I took the HESI for the FIU program but they only count the Reading and Math portion. Last night I rented the Kaplan Nursing Exam third edition book XD I'm stressing over it! Please let me know what they respond to your email :)

Hi , I just got an email yesterday saying that they require an entry exam !!!! great, more exams to study for now! I am so upset!!! I am still in Statistics, Nutrition and Micro this semester so those are the only three classes I am missing...I am hoping and praying that I get a call for an interview!!! I am very nervous about this Kaplan test, I already took the HESI for BC and was planning on taking the HESI for Chamberlain as a backup but I REALLY want to go to Nova ! My science GPA is a 3.8 but that's including the labs from BC, I know in Nova they don't require a lab to be taken with the classes. I don't know what to expect, the BSN advisor told me I am in the second tier of people that don't have ALL of their pre-reqs done. Ill be done with them Dec 17th and then I will be ready for Winter but I hope something could be done!!!
I am in the same boat ! Statistics, Nutrition and Micro I am doing right now so she said MAYBE I will get a call if there is still room after all the applicants with all their classes are finished. I hope I get a chance, I have the grades to prove it, now just this stupid test!!! I ordered the Kaplan book last night from Amazon to start studying.
I noticed you said you had to take the HESI for BC and have to take the HESI for chamberlain. I thought once you take the HESI you can just use the same scores from the first time for all schools that need it?
Good luck with your prereqs!! Your science gpa is very good so all you need to do is get good grades in your prereqs it's so doable!
I ordered the Kaplan book last night as well. The third edition. But I'm wondering what are the subjects that we are going to be tested on.... I read on a forum that the science part is REALLY hard on the kaplan test.
Thank you! But that's only if I get A's in Stats and A&PII. I also averaged my labs in, but someone is saying they don't count those?
Also, the lady replied saying:
"At this time the College of Nursing has not established a min/max score that applicants must achieve. You must do well on the test but your admissions decision will be based on your academics, interview and exam scores. They will compare exam scores of applicants to the national norms and use that to determine the student's success at the exam. If a student was to score significantly below the national norm/passing rate then I can only assume that would be a cause for concern for the College of Nursing when making an admissions decision."
So, I'm not really sure if that's a good or bad thing.
And @Yankeesgirl907 I was also told I would be in the second tier of interviews :\ On previous threads people still taking prereqs got interviews, so i'm praying!!
