Nova Southeastern University Entry Level BSN Winter 2014

Published

Hi future nurses! I've been searching for a recent forum of the BSN program for Winter 2014 but couldn't find any so I decided to make one myself. I applied to the Winter 2014 BSN program at NOVA. All my prereqs are done, my GPA is 3.7 and my science GPA is 3.5. I was hoping to receive feedback from anyone who has applied in the past or is currently applying like myself to the Winter 2014 program! Have any of you gotten an interview call yet?:nailbiting::nailbiting:

I just got an email to schedule an interview!! Super nervous now! They only gave me two interview dates to pick from and it's either Sept 24, or October 1st. That's crazy! It doesn't even give you a chance to study for the Kaplan. I suggest you guys study for the kaplan as much as you can before you get chosen for an interview date!!

i got the email too about the new entrance exam, am a little stress. my overall GPA is 3.70 and my science GPA is a 4.00, does statistic count as science GPA? i got an email today saying i have been selected to the interview, i should prepare to spend the whole day because i will also take the exam that day, the exam is 2hr and 45mins long.

Hello! Today I also received an email for an interview. It stated the test will be the same day. I got the choices of September 26 or October 3rd. Anyone have ANY clue on how I can prepare on such short notice?

I suggest going to Barnes & Nobles and buying the Kaplan study guide. I ordered mine Sept 16 fortunately, but it doesn't arrive until Sept 23 and I picked the Oct 1st interview. It's STILL little time! I think it's going to be a group interview

Hi Everyone!

I am also applying to NSU for the winter 2014 start. I am so glad you started this topic posting! I love reading about everything going on with everyone else who is applying!

Do you think that the Kapla will be similar to the TEAS?

Asked a student about the Kaplan test, who started this Fall, on another forum. The school made the current new fall class take the Kaplan exam as well, just as a measure of to see where they're at. This was the conversation:

Hello stacixoxo43,

I got an email for an interview. It states the test will be the same date which is kind of nerve wracking because I don't feel like I have much time to prepare and probably not enough time to order a Kaplan practice exam book...

However, I did take the TEAS earlier this year and I have all of the study materials for that. Would you say it's pretty identical? Also, how would you compare the difficulties of Kaplan exam compared to Teas?

hey :) congrats on the interview :) i took the TEAS for miami dade and i thought the kaplan was much easier...there were 4 sections...reading which the passages were super boring and you had to answer questions like whats the main idea of the passage and specific questions like that where you actually had to read the passage...the math was a breeze...i did like 50 math problems in 15 min..it was the very simple basic math...there was a language section that asked about punctuation and which word doesnt fit in the sentence or was spelled wrong and that i breezed through too and then the last part was the science...that part was really hard...i only knew a few of those answers...and like with you guys we only had a few days notice we would be taking it except ours didnt count against us since were already in the program...kaplan seemed easier than TEAS but im not sure if they will be giving the incoming class the same one although i would imagine so...hope that helps and if you have any other questions feel free to ask :)

jedayenurse How much was your book? I might try to get it, depending on the cost.

I do have the materials for the TEAS practice though so I might just rely on that instead (since they're very similar) and also use my old A&P notes to prepare for the science section.

Btw, everyone, if you go on your VIP page there should be a link to a document that helps you know how to prepare for the Kaplan and what type of questions to expect. I think they just recently added that.

Hi, everyone, I am applying at Nova for the winter 2014, and today I went and met with the lady at the admission office. I will be in second tiers of people they will call for interview because I am taking my last prerequisite (micro) at BC. My overall GPA is 3.76 and my science is 4.0.. I also applied at Barry but Nova is my first choice....I need to start studying for the exam in case...Good luck to those of you going to the interview and exam.

Get us some feedback.

I rented it for 17 bucks. I still havent received it in the mail and I'm so nervous! I have the TEAS materials too. I heard that the science part for the Kaplan relies more on physiology more than anything. I'm scared that the teas review stuff is completely different from kaplans.

@gigi509 Your overall gpa and science gpa is so great x____x I wish my science gpa wouldn't be a 3.5 ugh! my interview date is oct 1st. and I haven't even STUDIED for the kaplan entrance exam. I hope it doesn't heavily rely on the entrance exam but chances are that it does. Interview is pretty nervewrecking too.

Yeah, like I said, I will be using my old A&P notes to study for the science. I looked at the sample Kaplan questions that Nova posted and they're basically all body system q's.
