Hi future nurses! I've been searching for a recent forum of the BSN program for Winter 2014 but couldn't find any so I decided to make one myself. I applied to the Winter 2014 BSN program at NOVA. All my prereqs are done, my GPA is 3.7 and my science GPA is 3.5. I was hoping to receive feedback from anyone who has applied in the past or is currently applying like myself to the Winter 2014 program! Have any of you gotten an interview call yet?:nailbiting:
Hey guys,
I went for my interview today and just thought i'd share my experience for those of you who are curious. Arrived around 830 am and we probably didn't get started on the Kaplan test until around 9. It has four sections (Math, Science, Reading, Writing) and I didn't finish until around 1130 or so. The test itself I didn't find to be too difficult in general... I had planned to study for it but because things have been so crazy with school and work the past 2 weeks, I never actually got around to it (oops!). Fortunately, I still did ok; I scored an 88% overall. The science was the most difficult for me (scored a 75%) only because it was strictly A&P and if you haven't studied it or taken it recently then it's a bunch of stuff you probably might not remember the answer to. So my word of advice is study up on your A&P!! I scored a 96% and like 93% on the math and reading sections respectively. Math will be much easier than you're going to expect. The writing is somewhat difficult but if you read up in your study guides about simple rules you should be ok (scored like an 86-87% on that section).
After the test they had us do a short essay.
We had a lunch break and then in an hour we came back for a group interview (mine had about 7 people or so). They asked us each an individual question then we had group questions. I don't want to get into the specifics of what they asked because I don't want to give too much away (I doubt the school would appreciate that lol). I will say it was a pretty relaxed environment and I didn't feel very nervous at all because of this. They told us they'd let us know our status on acceptance in a few weeks, probably being closer to November. After the interview we just toured the school and also had the opportunity to talk with financial aid.
Hope this helps you guys!

I have my interview on Oct 9th. I also haven't started studying for the Kaplan. I was able to find it at my local library, was pretty fortunate for that. You should check your local libraries before you purchase it.
