Hello everyone !!
I was looking for a post for the Entry-Level BSN program for Winter 2016 at Nova and I couldn't find one, so I decided to make one where we could all get in contact to discuss and share our experience, tips, thoughts and questions on this journey !
So, I guess I'll begin with mine!! I originally began my application to Nova April 30th (kind of late considering their deadline for registration was June 1st) for the Fall Semester. After I submitted both my nursingCAS and the NSU application, it took about 2 weeks to receive a response. I got my email for the interview May 19th. I immediately registered for an interview (June 4th, tomorrow!!!) and began to prepare.
I called Nova, to see if I could get some feedback as to what I could use to study from, or if there was any specific book I could purchase. The girl who I spoke to kindly informed me that there was no specific study guide and that the test would be based on previous knowledge from my prerequisites. With that being said, I immediately started googling and finding out as much information as possible about the Exam and the interview process (where I came to find this website that has genuinely helped me so much with gathering info). I then purchased the "Nursing School Entrance Exams" Kaplan book through Amazon, which cost me around $20, and began to study from that. I can' t tell you guys yet if that worked for me or not since we don't know the exact material of the exam and I hadn't taken the exam yet, but I'll make sure to come back and let you guys know how it went!
I received a call last week on Friday, that there were no more available seats for the Fall Term 2015. The girl I spoke to advised me to still present myself to the interview and take the exam. She also told me that the application could be moved to the Winter Term and that way I don't have to apply all over again and go through the same process. So, that's what I plan on doing.
I am so nervous for the exam more than anything, since I don't know what to expect, but I am trying to stay positive.
Good luck to all the new applicants for Winter Term and those that are on the same boat as me. Hopefully we are all together soon in the BSN program at NSU!!!!!!!
Congrats to those who already have gotten accepted! Hi yudi I have been reading your thread and I just applied at the end of July for the bsn winter 2016. I completed both applications and sent my transcripts from mdc to the nursing cas. I have a question I know there was a section to add references my references that my professors made were for another school I had applied is it optional to put a reference or do you think I can add those references? I also wanted to ask how is the schedule for the program I know it is a full time program with nova but just wanted to know a little more about it.

Hi Sarah!!!! I recommend you put whatever reference you can. I don't think they contact your references but just in case. I had 3 references in my application, none of them were professors though (I know having a professor as a reference is great!). About the schedule of the program, I think every semester is different. From what I've heard from friends who are in the program is that you go to classes from 4-5 times a week Mon-Fri either in the morning, early noon or late in the afternoon. Usually if you applied at the Miami/Kendall campus you will need to go to the Main campus at least once a week for the A&P class. Good luck with your application!! If you have any questions just ask and we will all try to help in anything we can!
When my friends were doing the process they told me that most of the immunizations you have gotten them when you were younger so ask your parents if they kept a copy of every vaccine that you had with the date given or call your doctor to see if you have records or previous physicians.
Lol awesome, yes I'll ask my parents because I know I got most, if not all, of them but I am not 100% sure.
Hello everyone, I already registered for the interview August 18. i actually have one more question for Steven and Yudi. I know ill do well in the science, reading, and writing portion of the KAPLAN but i wanted to brush up on math. any ideas what kind of math i should start to study for (ex, adding/subtracting fractions, conversion of units, etc...)?

Dude!!! Good luck you'll do great! The Math was actually really easy. As Yudi mention it is mainly adding and subtracting fractions as well as dividing and multiplying them. The last 3-5 questions are word problems about dosage really easy!
Thank you so much! Yea I applied to the Kendall campus. I'm just now waiting for the transcripts to be reviewed. I'm just nervous. If they call me for an interview do you have any advice you recommend? On some questions I know the advisor over at Kendall told me there is no essay only the Kaplan exam.
Sarah you'll do great don't worry.. Just be yourself and have some ideas as to what some of your answers might be so you don't studder or repeat yourself. I also suggest to go first if you do end up in a group interview so your answers aren't the same as the interviewers who went before you since you will all be in the same room (at least with my interview it was that way). I had to write an essay, which was right before the interview. It was only a page long, nothing crazy.
