  1. Hello to everyone, I want to work with peds... i did that rotation my 5th semester in nursing school, and i'm now about to go in my 7th and final semester. I did my rotation at this medsurg cardiac step-down floor and fell in love with peds nursing and the floor in general. i want to go back to that floor and work there straight out of nursing school if possible, if not, ill get my foot in the door in anything to get experience and then move on to peds... my question to whom it may concern is: should i go back to that floor and talk to the nurse manager and tell them how i feel about their floor and ask for any opportunities straight out of nursing school? if so what is my strategy and how do i even get on the floor if i am not there to see a patient (since i need a badge as a visitor when i go to the security desk) Thank you for any inputs or advice!
  2. I am applying for aid. scholarships are available but they aren't as easy to get. its really competitive, iv'e already applied to 5 about 4 months ago, and i haven't had any answers, and my nursing program does not allow us to work through the program.
  3. Wait I'm not sure if I completely understood that. I would not be eligible for other aid such as federal loans because of my father's tuition waiver? Or are you saying that your institution would cover the rest of your outstanding financial obligations AFTER federal loans and pelgrants were awarded?
  4. Hi Anna I'm glad our participation in this forum has answered most of your questions! Math on the Kaplan is more like 1/2+2/3. I don't remember there being to much word problems, it's very straight forward. As for Khan academy, YouTube the system your struggling or want to freshen up with and then type Khan academy. For ex. "Cardiovascular system Khan academy"
  5. It is a BSN. If I decide to go I need a subsidized loan ($6,500 per year) I need a direct plus loan and I'll be receiving about $10,000 in pelgrants for the 2 years I'm in nursing school. The cost will be about $22,500 before loans (but after my discount and pelgrant.) It's a private university. (Nova southeastern university)
  6. It's a BSN
  7. I'm starting nursing school in winter 2016. I'm really happy I got in to my first pick nursing school, but to be completely honest I'm having second thoughts due to student loans. I havnt had a good night sleep for the past few days just thinking about the debt that I will have under my name and my parents. It's funny because in reality my schools program is about $65K but my father is an employee at the school and I get 50% off tuition, and I'm still freaking out! Is this normal? Any advice on what I should do?
  8. Math is a piece of cake! It's just adding subtracting multiplying and deviding fractions. Go on YouTube to freshen up on fractions if you need to. YouTube anatomy videos for systems that Steven mentioned earlier on this forum. Khan academy is the best in my opinion! As for the score for the Kaplan, anything around a 60 overall is considered good. But they say that they don't base your acceptance completely off the exam. They consider the essay, exam, your GPA, grades, transcript all together and then they decide. I hope this helps!
  9. Oh, okay i still haven't received the email with further instructions my guess is it will be sent later on today or tomorrow. how are you getting your immunization records, is there any immunization documents given to you by your physician to upload through the background check website, or is it some way else?
  10. I haven't received my email yet with the instructions on the background check, but im going to start the residency which i just received this morning.
  11. It isn't but it seems forever if you think about it too much! My advice to you is forget about nursing for now, this is your time to enjoy your life and concentrate on other things, if you do this, two weeks will go by quicker than a blink of an eye! I'm sure you did well!
  12. Thank you sir! i haven't managed to stop smiling today lol
  13. Yea more than likely will have the same anatomy class!
