Nova Southeastern University Entry-Level BSN Winter (January 2016) !

Published

Hello everyone !!

I was looking for a post for the Entry-Level BSN program for Winter 2016 at Nova and I couldn't find one, so I decided to make one where we could all get in contact to discuss and share our experience, tips, thoughts and questions on this journey !

So, I guess I'll begin with mine!! I originally began my application to Nova April 30th (kind of late considering their deadline for registration was June 1st) for the Fall Semester. After I submitted both my nursingCAS and the NSU application, it took about 2 weeks to receive a response. I got my email for the interview May 19th. I immediately registered for an interview (June 4th, tomorrow!!!) and began to prepare.

I called Nova, to see if I could get some feedback as to what I could use to study from, or if there was any specific book I could purchase. The girl who I spoke to kindly informed me that there was no specific study guide and that the test would be based on previous knowledge from my prerequisites. With that being said, I immediately started googling and finding out as much information as possible about the Exam and the interview process (where I came to find this website that has genuinely helped me so much with gathering info). I then purchased the "Nursing School Entrance Exams" Kaplan book through Amazon, which cost me around $20, and began to study from that. I can' t tell you guys yet if that worked for me or not since we don't know the exact material of the exam and I hadn't taken the exam yet, but I'll make sure to come back and let you guys know how it went!

I received a call last week on Friday, that there were no more available seats for the Fall Term 2015. The girl I spoke to advised me to still present myself to the interview and take the exam. She also told me that the application could be moved to the Winter Term and that way I don't have to apply all over again and go through the same process. So, that's what I plan on doing.

I am so nervous for the exam more than anything, since I don't know what to expect, but I am trying to stay positive.

Good luck to all the new applicants for Winter Term and those that are on the same boat as me. Hopefully we are all together soon in the BSN program at NSU!!!!!!!

Dude!!! Good luck you'll do great! The Math was actually really easy. As Yudi mention it is mainly adding and subtracting fractions as well as dividing and multiplying them. The last 3-5 questions are word problems about dosage really easy!

Thank you Steven, sounds extremely basic lol. Hey im curious, how many weeks past after your interview that you got the call from Sharifa that you were accepted?

Exactly two weeks. But from what I heard, Sharifa left. They are finding someone new to take over.

And also my interview was a bit different from everyone else. i interviewed on my own with the director and two other faculty members because no one register for my interview except for me. They asked me the same questions as they asked Yudi and I had to do an essay.

I suck at math, seriously, I do. And the math portion was not bad, at all. Coming from me that's major lol! And for me, I had to wait a month and around 2 weeks for my response. I also applied very, very early, originally for the fall semester, so maybe that's why it took longer for me. Usually from what I've heard from my friends who are already in the program, it takes anywhere from 2 weeks to a month.

Goodluck to everyone! I am also lookin to hopefully get into the Winter 2016. I stil have 4 classes that I will be taking now in fall and hope to still be able to qualify! Looking forward to communicating with all of you.

AleGisselle, thanks!! Good luck to you as well! Submit your application either way, as long as you finish your classes before the Winter term I think you're fine. Just make sure to apply before the deadline!! :)

Thanks for the response! I have already applied through NSU and Nursing CAS and have my transcripts sent to Nursing CAS. (: I have a friend who Is also applying but has recently become pregnant? Has anybody experienced or met someone who experiences this?

Your right Steven i think she is gone, i hope they replace her with someone as helpful as she was.

By the way guys my interview was rescheduled as well as 3 others by NSU for the 25th, which is highly inconvenient because that is the first day of Micro for me. I guess i have to suck it up and just miss the first day of class.

Great! Keep us updated :)

I don't know if anyone personally who has gone through this to be honest.

I recommend your friend speaks to an adviser or a counselor per say, and see what feedback or advice she receives. I am sure she will be more than okay, it would just be a little tougher and draining since she is pregnant and pregnancy can be tough with just feeling sick at times and all that. But I think she will be okay!

No way.... I wonder why..? Probably because Sharifa left and since the semester is starting maybe they are a bit backed up, which I am guessing it's also why I have not received my PIN yet. Awwwe, that sucks.. Email your micro teacher and let her know! Look at it in the bright side, now you have a bit more time to review lol :|

Yea that sounds like a possible explanation. I'm way ahead of you on that lol, I have sent an email and gave her office a phone call and left a voicemail, but still no answer. I don't blame her for not replying, Its summer and i think shes just forgetting about school for the moment. That sucks that you haven't received your PIN yet, I think a phone call to the nursing dept wouldn't hurt to seek further details about your status. Have you received your package yet?

Yes I am going to call tomorrow because I also have questions about some forms that I received on my package. Yes lol, last week! So much paper work! I bought some school supplies over the weekend and I am thinking of getting my scrubs and lab coat soon as well!
