Nova Southeastern University Entry-Level BSN Winter (January 2016) !

Published

Hello everyone !!

I was looking for a post for the Entry-Level BSN program for Winter 2016 at Nova and I couldn't find one, so I decided to make one where we could all get in contact to discuss and share our experience, tips, thoughts and questions on this journey !

So, I guess I'll begin with mine!! I originally began my application to Nova April 30th (kind of late considering their deadline for registration was June 1st) for the Fall Semester. After I submitted both my nursingCAS and the NSU application, it took about 2 weeks to receive a response. I got my email for the interview May 19th. I immediately registered for an interview (June 4th, tomorrow!!!) and began to prepare.

I called Nova, to see if I could get some feedback as to what I could use to study from, or if there was any specific book I could purchase. The girl who I spoke to kindly informed me that there was no specific study guide and that the test would be based on previous knowledge from my prerequisites. With that being said, I immediately started googling and finding out as much information as possible about the Exam and the interview process (where I came to find this website that has genuinely helped me so much with gathering info). I then purchased the "Nursing School Entrance Exams" Kaplan book through Amazon, which cost me around $20, and began to study from that. I can' t tell you guys yet if that worked for me or not since we don't know the exact material of the exam and I hadn't taken the exam yet, but I'll make sure to come back and let you guys know how it went!

I received a call last week on Friday, that there were no more available seats for the Fall Term 2015. The girl I spoke to advised me to still present myself to the interview and take the exam. She also told me that the application could be moved to the Winter Term and that way I don't have to apply all over again and go through the same process. So, that's what I plan on doing.

I am so nervous for the exam more than anything, since I don't know what to expect, but I am trying to stay positive.

Good luck to all the new applicants for Winter Term and those that are on the same boat as me. Hopefully we are all together soon in the BSN program at NSU!!!!!!!

Hey everyone I just took the Kaplan yesterday October 27th and had my interview!

Here is some information...

We first met our proctor who gave us the schedule for the day. We started with the Kaplan test followed by lunch, essay which took about 30 minutes, and then a small break (about 5 minutes) and then our interviews followed by a quick tour of the campus. Our group was less than 20 people I don't remember the number exactly and we conducted one on one interviews.

The Kaplan test:

Science was more PHYSIOLOGY than anatomy -- I thought the science part was pretty difficult, or maybe just the wording.

In my opinion the rest of the test was easy peasy !! Math: Mostly fractions and percentages. Reading was mostly main idea and details type question. Then you do grammar-- mostly what sentence fits where or needs to be taken out etc etc, some spelling and punctuation questions.

The interview:

Was actually really great! Mostly everyone seemed to have a positive experience. I would say take a moment to think about your answer and go for it!

Some of the questions I was asked were as follows:

Tell me about yourself in a few words :

If you see an elderly person in the parking lot what would you do?

If you found out a classmate was signing in someone who was not present in class what would you do ?

If you had a sick family member in your household and had to miss class how would you go about this?

Best of wishes for everyone applying! I am hoping to get my acceptance letter in the mail soon!!!!!

God Bless you all!

Hi I got my acceptance. Thank God. Does anyone know when is the deadline to submit the Baptist application.

Hi guys! So i have my test next week and I was wondering if the kaplan exam was anything like the teas ... meaning, if it will be computerized and if we are not allowed to take our calcs? Im over thinking this and nursing admission does not know whether or not calculators are allowed 0.o help please. my nerves are killing me. I also want to change my campus of choice now... ft myers instead of ft lauderdale.... idk if that will be allowed either :(

Usfgrad, The Kaplan is on the computer. They give you calculator and it's also one on the computer.
