Hello everyone !!
I was looking for a post for the Entry-Level BSN program for Winter 2016 at Nova and I couldn't find one, so I decided to make one where we could all get in contact to discuss and share our experience, tips, thoughts and questions on this journey !
So, I guess I'll begin with mine!! I originally began my application to Nova April 30th (kind of late considering their deadline for registration was June 1st) for the Fall Semester. After I submitted both my nursingCAS and the NSU application, it took about 2 weeks to receive a response. I got my email for the interview May 19th. I immediately registered for an interview (June 4th, tomorrow!!!) and began to prepare.
I called Nova, to see if I could get some feedback as to what I could use to study from, or if there was any specific book I could purchase. The girl who I spoke to kindly informed me that there was no specific study guide and that the test would be based on previous knowledge from my prerequisites. With that being said, I immediately started googling and finding out as much information as possible about the Exam and the interview process (where I came to find this website that has genuinely helped me so much with gathering info). I then purchased the "Nursing School Entrance Exams" Kaplan book through Amazon, which cost me around $20, and began to study from that. I can' t tell you guys yet if that worked for me or not since we don't know the exact material of the exam and I hadn't taken the exam yet, but I'll make sure to come back and let you guys know how it went!
I received a call last week on Friday, that there were no more available seats for the Fall Term 2015. The girl I spoke to advised me to still present myself to the interview and take the exam. She also told me that the application could be moved to the Winter Term and that way I don't have to apply all over again and go through the same process. So, that's what I plan on doing.
I am so nervous for the exam more than anything, since I don't know what to expect, but I am trying to stay positive.
Good luck to all the new applicants for Winter Term and those that are on the same boat as me. Hopefully we are all together soon in the BSN program at NSU!!!!!!!
Hello everyone,
So I have kind of been confused on the path I have wanted to take to get in to nursing school. I have had an interview at nova for a whole now and have changed the dates a few times because I was not sure I wanted to go there. My problem is the price of the school. I know someone who did not get the baptist scholarship and he explained to me that no matter what they tell you, your loans will be between 60-70K. I was looking in to FIU and since I had to retake my chem lab they won't accept me unless I finish my bachelors in something else first and then apply to their accelerated nursing program. So it would take me between 1.5 to 2 years to finish my bachelors in psychology which I have already been accepted to FIU for and then 1 year for the accelerated nursing program. at nova I would take 27 months to finish the BSN but have a lot more loans for school. I am just so lost right now any advice would help if anyone has some experience with this. I also accepted the interview at nova this time for September 15th. Good luck to you all on your interviews and if you already interviewed, I hope you get accepted.
Blago, sorry you're going through this, I know what its like to be so confused about school. The way I think of it is that no matter where you go, you are always going to have to pay for school. Some are more expensive than others but consider the difference between school.. Time to finish bachelors, quality of the program, difference it tuition cost, travel convenience, and any other factor that you can think of. Remember student loans are paid over time. I know it sucks, trust me. Just go with your gut feeling. What do you think would be the best outcome for you?
Hi everyone!
I am new to this site but am so glad i found it! I am about to submit my application to Nova idk if I'll even be called in for an interview because my grades aren't the BEST. I have a B in A&P I&II, B in chem, A in micro, but my other prereqs like eng, psych, and hum I have C's in. I am also transferring all my classes from Chicago so I hope they will be accepted. I am also a CNA so I am hoping that will help me out a bit. Should i call them if I don't hear anything about an interview?
Congratulations to everyone who got accepted!
Hello Amanda,
I wouldn't worry about that as long as you have a good GPA in your sciences and an overall of 3.0 they will consider your application, also you can't have any science repeated even if you obtained an A the second time. Stay positive, you can always call them to check on the status of your application.
Good luck!
Hi Amanda!
I completely agree with Meicp. As long as you have good grades in your sciences and overall 3.0 gpa you should be fine. Give them a call and ask them all the questions you may have regarding the application process. I've called them before whenever I had any doubts on anything and they have been very helpful. Wishing you lots of luck, stay positive and try to complete everything as soon as you can :) keep us posted!

Hi Cici! Don't worry too much about the kaplan exam. Some people just aren't good test takers, I'm not! You have a good GPA and if your interview went good then no worries. Think positive!
