Hello everyone !!
I was looking for a post for the Entry-Level BSN program for Winter 2016 at Nova and I couldn't find one, so I decided to make one where we could all get in contact to discuss and share our experience, tips, thoughts and questions on this journey !
So, I guess I'll begin with mine!! I originally began my application to Nova April 30th (kind of late considering their deadline for registration was June 1st) for the Fall Semester. After I submitted both my nursingCAS and the NSU application, it took about 2 weeks to receive a response. I got my email for the interview May 19th. I immediately registered for an interview (June 4th, tomorrow!!!) and began to prepare.
I called Nova, to see if I could get some feedback as to what I could use to study from, or if there was any specific book I could purchase. The girl who I spoke to kindly informed me that there was no specific study guide and that the test would be based on previous knowledge from my prerequisites. With that being said, I immediately started googling and finding out as much information as possible about the Exam and the interview process (where I came to find this website that has genuinely helped me so much with gathering info). I then purchased the "Nursing School Entrance Exams" Kaplan book through Amazon, which cost me around $20, and began to study from that. I can' t tell you guys yet if that worked for me or not since we don't know the exact material of the exam and I hadn't taken the exam yet, but I'll make sure to come back and let you guys know how it went!
I received a call last week on Friday, that there were no more available seats for the Fall Term 2015. The girl I spoke to advised me to still present myself to the interview and take the exam. She also told me that the application could be moved to the Winter Term and that way I don't have to apply all over again and go through the same process. So, that's what I plan on doing.
I am so nervous for the exam more than anything, since I don't know what to expect, but I am trying to stay positive.
Good luck to all the new applicants for Winter Term and those that are on the same boat as me. Hopefully we are all together soon in the BSN program at NSU!!!!!!!
Hi Guys!I'm so happy I found this!! I have my interview on Tuesday and I'm hoping this rain won't stop it!
Quick question: do you guys know when is orientation for the winter?
Thank you!
Awesome! Good luck! :)
I keep checking the NSU site for the orientation dates but it hasn't been updated yet. When I called to ask, I was told it would be early December but no exact date yet.
Main Campus! I must leave to Brazil right after to take care of family stuff, and I was wondering when do I need to be back for orientation, in case I make it! I am so nervous about the science on the Kaplan.. Do you guys know any good tips on practice questions?
Deinha I would say same thing I tell everyone else.. If you have A&P notes study from that for the science portion. I used the kaplan book and I wish I would of studied from my notes instead! For math just study fractions (adding, subtracting, multiplying etc.) And reading, english portion is pretty straight forward and simple, at least for me it as. Nothing too crazy! Just study for the science mainly!!

Science*** lol
I bought the book and honestly I don't feel like it helped me at all in the science portion. The math and English were a breeze for me. Just brush up on fractions for the math.
For sure study the blood flow through the heart. The systems mentioned in the exam were the cardiovascular, immune, homeostasis, nervous system, respiratory and sensory. That I can remember. Just know the basics of each. They won't really ask you specific questions about the systems (just for the blow flow) but they will have a scenario in the question where you will have to answer accordingly. I know it sounds confusing and very hard, though it was the hardest section for me, but its nothing too crazy. You will do good!
