NOVA Southeastern University BSN Fall 2008

Published

Hello everyone! :D I am newly registered to this site but have been reading through the forums since about March. I just finished 2 years at FIU and applied to Nova's Fall 2008 BSN program. I went to the interview back in April and now I am super super nervous because letters starting going out June 1st. I just wanted to see if anyone else was in the horrible waiting game like I was. Also any information about Nova's program would be appeciated.

I would check with your local hospitals...there are a lot of scholarships through hospitals that are not directly affiliated with schools. I was waiting to reply about the amount baptist covered until I knew for sure, but smc got to it first :D...good luck with everything!

thank you i check around and found TENET (there are about 50 or more hospitals operate under that union in fl) offer scholorships, you sign a 2 yr contract but its only for $500-$2000 per year. that doesnt help at all, my school is pvt and cost $50,000. but ill keep looking around in god's faith i will find something.

Btw to make this clear when I said that Baptist covers tuition and fees... I called Nova and they told me that the fees and tuition are together so they are both paid for. Just wanted to clear that up. :D

Hey SMC ;)...i can't send private messages yet b/c i haven't posted over 15 times (getting there though)...but i tried to send you an email...hope it worked.

Hi! I'm a student in at the Ft. Lauderdale campus starting this fall. So excited! I didnt apply for the Baptist scholarship though. I wasnt sure that I would be able to make the three year working commitment.

Hey guys! Congrats on you that got accepted into the nursing program. Right now I am looking into the BSN program starting in the Spring semester. I am reading so many positive things about NOVA that it makes me want to run and apply. The only thing that is obviously worrying me is the tuition cost. I read that they do have a Baptist Scholars program on the website and according to what it says you attend classes on the NOVA campus for the first semester and if you are accepted into the Baptist Scholars Program then you attend classes at Baptist thereafter. Is this how it works? And I read that they also pay for the tuition. Is this true? If they really did, then that would be amazing. Right now I attend MDC. I just graduated with an AA. I have been debating between nursing and teaching and after being accepted into the School of Education at MDC and attending my first class, I realized that I want to be a nurse more than ever. I also applied for MDC School of Nursing for the Spring semester, but with all the horror stories I keep hearing about your GPA having to be perfect scares the crap out of me. So I am obviously looking into other nursing schools. I looked at all of the ones in the area and NOVA seems to be one of the best. I am just worried about the tuition. Does NOVA offer financial aid to their students. I had applied for financial aid at MDC and they said I was not eligible. (I was shocked!) So I am worried NOVA would say the same. I mean who really can afford the cost of these private universities. I also heard that they help students apply for many scholarships that help pay for the tuition. I also have some questions for you guys besides the ones I have already asked. I would like to know what kind of GPA do you have to have in order to be accepted in the NOVA nursing school? I have a 3.28 right now and am currently taking three education classes at MDC (three classes which I would rather not be in.) I just want to have an idea on what kind of chances I have. Thanks for reading this long post and I look forward to reading some of your answers.

Nova will take your financiall aid, but remember according to the financial aid website, students in financial need are only eligible for $4K/year and nova costs $18/yr.

When I was there, in 2005 they had a memorial regional hospital scholarship that gave the students $30K check and you work for the hospital for 3 years thereafter graduation. with that money you pay tuition and fees.

So according to your post I am assuming baptist does the same thing.

apply for sure at NOVA-- I knwo my friends I made there are paying for their loans with a locked interest about $58/monthly for the next 30 years.

Hey guys! Thanks so much for your response. I have another question.....I was wondering if the NOVA nursing program has any time between semesters and if they do how long? In other words, when do the students get a vacation? And how long is it? I know that MDC has approx. 2-3 weeks between semester classes....is it the same at NOVA? Also, does anyone know if the baptist scholars program starts on the first semester of nursing school at NOVA, in other words do you start right away attending classes at Baptist?

Hey guys! I was also wondering what were the hours of classes if you are in the Baptist Scholars Program? In other words, is it like 9am-4pm or something like that? What is the schedule of classes like? And do you start the first semester right away at Baptist? How long are the semesters and how long are the breaks in between classes/semesters? Thanks alot guys!

hey i applied to Nova and just got a phone call with my interview date. I am excited but nervous at the same time. What would you say my chances are to get in if i was given an interview date and how is the interview.

Anxiously waiting,

Cami:D

Hey Kad,

Was just wondering if you applied to the program since my GPA is about the same as yours here. Were you accepted?

Hi Kad and Vfigurosa...

I'm currently in my 5th term at Nova (Baptist Scholars Program). My GPA was the same upon application...but I had a 4.0 in science courses. Nova bases it's acceptance on the interview process, which is one of the main reasons I chose this school. Yes, it's true that Baptist pays the full tuition...and it's a great hospital to work for. Best of luck to the both of you!!!
