Congratulations to all the future Shark Nurses. I'm starting a new Nursing Club at the Kendall campus. Anyone registered at the Kendall campus is welcome to join. I am also looking for board officers. Please IM me if you are interested. Some of the activities we will have are seminars with upperclassmen, professors, and practicing nurses. We will also be doing some community service. I haven't decided on a name yet but I have two possible names:
1-C.A.R.E: Compassionate, Assertive, Respectful, and Effective nurses
2-N.U.R.S.E: Nurturing, Unification, Reinforcement, Solidarity, Education
Any feedback or ideas are appreciated and welcomed. Joining a club so soon may seem crazy but it's a great way to stay busy and to establish a strong support system.
Sorry I haven't responded in a while but I got the email Jerziana sent from everyone. There were some real good ideas in there so thanks guys. As far as the status: We are real close to beginning. On Friday I spoke to the head of student affairs at the kendall campus and gave him a copy of the proposal for the club and a flyer to put up around campus. He is also going ti speak to the nursing committee on Monday and see what else can be done. I'm going to to get some names from Jerziana so...most likely everything will be turned in next week. Thanks again for all of your help and please you can IM or email me if you like. [email protected]
Hey Nurse Kitty;
I found some organizations on this great website, I really really like the make a wish foundation ! But heres a website that has a bunch of organizations http://www.charitynavigator.org/
I think we should lean towards maybe a cancer organization and give back that way here are some that caught my eye . Let me know please
National Parkinson Foundation
Multiple Sclerosis Foundation
St.Jude Hospital
Camp Smile A mile
That's the same website I went on. I did my search based on the ratings. I checked out 3 and 5 star rated charities and the salaries of the CEO. I didn't see those listed but I will check them out. I've heard of saint jude. I will check those out next week thanks. Maybe we can switch up charities every year that way we get to work with different charities.
Hey we can also look into:
March of Dimes
American Cancer Society
National Autism Association
* I think we should choose something that has to do with cancer also. I know that it is a disease that ultimately affects each and everyone of us in different ways.
Let me know!
Anyone that wants to meet me, boo, and michelle tomr at Nova is welcome to go! Let me know! You can email me at my personal email: [email protected]
i'm glad that this is moving along so quickly! i am very excited about the club... i as well believe that cancer is a disease that is growing rapidly and if we can help in anyway either through community service or fundraising in order to help educate and provide $$ for research to better the situation, it would be great!!! as well i am sure we will find other organizations to help and even promote blood drives on campus and those sort of things and even the small things like visiting homes to assist/accompany the elderly. so many activity ideas. i was even thinking that we can adopt a specific charity each year and donate all fundraisings in a lump sum around december (like an end of the year gift for the organization).
i have thought of some more name i will post shortly :redbeathe
