Has anyone had any experience with withholding an employer. I already have a FT and a PRN, so this is an employer that would be very PRN, couple days a month. I have been in the program for a while but want to get back into a hospital mainly to keep m skills up. My main question is really is there anyway for them to find out. I mean my license doesn't show anything since I was a self report, and I have been in good standings since day one. Just looking for some advice if anyone has any.

And, if an agency comes in to do a survey or a complete investigation even on something that didn't involve you, they look at all the nurses licensure information. That is standard procedure. Investigative agencies have access to your whole story unlike your employer or the public.
Trust me, they look for nurses on monitoring. That's why someone I worked with is no longer licensed. Lied about monitoring and got caught during a survey
When they say you are anonymous when you self-reported to your monitoring agency, they mean it doesn't show to the public. They still notify the board that you are on monitoring.
And what if you make a mistake? And then it comes to the attention of the board.
Risky.

I wouldn't chance it! The only things the BON are tougher on than drugs screens is anyone in the program they catch lying to them. They will see any lie as "A symptom of relapse" and the walls will come crashing down on your head. Better to be honest with your case manager and get permission.

From my experience any time ive lied or hid something ive felt bad about it and it never leads to anything good. I think if you choose the honest path things will work out just how they are supposed to.
Thanks for all the advise, now a second question for anyone who may know. Is HCA health a KNAP friendly hospital. I will be off my key restriction by the time I start there so it will just be monthly monitoring.
In Florida, HCA is very IPN friendly. But only if you've never burned them. If you were an employee at an HCA hospital and were caught diverting, or had a positive random drug screen, they send you packing. And a few of my friends are no rehire because of it.
Thanks again. I put in a call to my recruiter so I can disclose that I am in the program. Hopefully it helps that my key restriction will be over when I complete orientation.

I have been out of KNAP for 2 years now but when I was in monitoring, I didn't know anyone in a HCA hospital. KU was KNAP-friendly (as long as you didn't get busted by them); I also knew nurses at the VA in Leavenworth, at CMH (south), and someone at OMC.

Don’t risk it. I am fresh out of KNAP as of a few months ago and I can honestly say that program scared the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth right out of me. Your license is way more important than a “very PRN” job. Be honest don’t hide a thing and keep doing the right thing day in and day out and sooner than later you will not have to worry about the horrible monitoring program ever again. And can work any job that comes your way.
