Hi! I just graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing this May and I have known for a while now that Nursing is just not a good fit for me. I do not have my RN and frankly I just do not care for bedside nursing. I am currently a Grad Nurse in an ER and I just know that nursing is not my fit.
Does anyone have any idea of other jobs I can have with my BSN?
I was thinking of getting my Masters in Healthcare Administration....
I took my NCLEX once ( I didn't mention it in my post because I don't want anyone to have the wrong idea that I am just discouraged about Nursing). I knew Nursing wasn't for me since sophomore year and was convinced my parents that is was..So now that I have my degree I am determined to find something else I will love doing!
Sounds like your parents paid your way through school. Well if I were them, I would tell you to get your license, keep your job and figure out what you want to do in life. The next degree is on your dime.
Find your niche like my specislity is Substance Abuse Counselling. I always wanted to go into nursing, but was always discourage by others and not knowing if I would be limited to the hospital. Now Im finding out that there are so many options.
I really love working with kids. My dream job would be to be an occupational therapist and work with disables children, but I think the schooling for that would be way to long.
You an work with pedi home care, or find a medical daycare.
I worked my entire nursing career with special needs and technology dependent children-9 years; I have done the PT and OT and assisted with helping children with working in their milestones and what they can do; even dabbled with art therapy, and I did all that with my nursing license.
Start there, and if you go in to get your masters (or is it doctorate now?) in OT, you can have a breadth of knowledge of working with the kiddos.
You can find a lifetime career's worth of disabled kids in home care that would be more than enough to fulfill your desire to work with kids. But you need that nursing license to open the door.
