Was wondering if there is a difference in not finishing on time at 261 questions vs. finishing 265. I understand that if you don't finish on time, they go by the last 60 questions. So in regards to passing standards, is there a big difference? Is the standard of passing the same?

You would have to ask this question of the testing authorities. Pass is still pass, and fail is still fail, so there really is not that much to obsess about.
I am curious. This is a discussion forum. So I am asking this question. And people on here know. So I am asking. Why make such a comment...just don't answer if you will not be of help. Any question on this site is a "Ask a higher authority question", but this is a DISCUSSION FORUM. A DISCUSSION FORUM.

We had to watch a video on NCLEX strategies Monday and the lady said that it was far better to not finish than to rush through to finish. The pass/fail is based on the average of the last 60 questions so if the choice was rush through and finish or answer the last 4 questions incorrectly because you are rushing, then you should take your time. Hope this helps to answer your question.

from what i heard, if you ran out of time they will have to based it from the last 60 questions but im not sure if thats the right number of questions tho. most people would try to rushed into getting 265 questions but if they're not doing great on the questions it could shut down anytime and fail. so i guess to answer your question, answering 265 questions within time limit is pretty much have the same standard as running out of time with 261 questions. thats why its important to take every single question seriously as it counts towards your score in the end. hope this helps.

Check NCSBN website but as far as I am aware even if you run out of time the standards remain the same

Look at #10!!
I highly recommend people look over the NCLEX stuff on ncsbn.org, lot of interesting stuff!
As well NCLEX Testing with Pearson VUE and do the "Online Tutorial for NCLEX® Examinations" as it is the same thing you do on the day of ur NCLEX!!!! Saves u some time!!
Thanks. And yeah, I have looked up ncbsn and will try that this next time around. I was just hitting myself cause I only had 3 questions to go, and I was taking the questions seriously which is why I ran out of time. I was wondering if I should have not guessed, but quick answered the last 3. So I guess the standard would've been the same. I took kaplan, but I think that studying content is equally important, especially meds. I had so many meds that I never heard of, and they didn't have suffixes that I could go by. Hopefully next time will be the last.
I did kaplan as well back in June 2009 and I thought it was a good course! Classroom was only ok, but I thought the text book they gave u made it totally worth it!! I read that thru a few times, watched all the videos and did all the question bank questions!! I have noticed that those that were not successful didnt do everything that was offered to them--and yes thats not always the case! Its a damn hard exam, so dont beat urself up!! And its not like everyone had the same questions, so for some the degree of difficulty could be harder--in my opinion at least! lol Very smart people have failed it and some no so smartt people have passed it!! Keep ur head up high!!!
