Hi has anyone graduated from northwestern institute of health and technology in Chicago, Il ? If so what was the experience like? This school does not have a waiting list for LPN however it is expensive. Was wondering if it is worth it.

Hi, Thanks for the resonse. I'm not sure how to PM  I'm failry new to the site. Do you know if I have already started the process for one site, can I switch to another site for the WIA grant? Also, do you know of any other grants/scholarships available for Northwestern Institute? I'd really like to go there, but it is SOOO expensive! But it's literally 3 blocks from my apt :) If this school doesn't work out I'm going to try KKC in englewood, but I'm a little iffy about the neighborhood. I've been told by several people not to go there. But I need my education and I need it now.

Thank you!!!!

Hi all,

Im glad i ran into this site. If you are interested in the WIA or the IDPH scholarship i can definitely try to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge and experience with that. I believe the scholarship from the IDPH will be coming out march 1st. Just go into their website it'll give like a whole bunch of instructions. It usually last till the last week of may. I think to qualify for that it depends on your efc and your gpa. thats what those guys look for.

This is helpful!! I had to take time out of school bc of family financial issues (hooray for the economy!) so I'm looking into FAFSA and WIA and all that other stuff now. I don't want to switch schools, but I have to keep my options open and see what kind of help I can get and where and for what school. Any other suggestions folks?

I am currently working towards getting into this school. I went to the wia meeting but have not been called yet as there is a waiting list. I also was told about the scholarship but will have to wait until next year to apply for it. I love the fact there is no waiting list and the school has a very high success rate of students completing the program & passing the state exam.

movefoward,

Two of my friends are at NWIHT. I decided to attend the community college, just started August 23rd. Also, I recv. the IDPH nurse scholarship and WIA grant. Thank God. Best wishes with your future endeavors.

Hi

Im new to this site have anyone attended or will be attending? Northwestern Institute of Health and Technology LPN program. My first day of class will be Monday in A&P 1 and Im so nervous. I havnt been to school in awhile. Im kind of scared to start the nursing program. I have been at this for over 5yrs, and I always had my mind on nursing. Hopefully this time im going all the way.

A few words of advice...

- Take/focus on your studies one day, one quiz, one clinical, one exam at a time and you'll do just fine.

- Treat your program as a marathon and not a sprint. Which means pace yourself.

- Your instructors can only take you half-way there... The rest is up to you.

- Recognize when you have issues and ask for help IMMEDIATELY.

- You have caring professionals in that school. Use them when you need them.

- And when you feel like not going to class/clinical or giving up (and you will feel that way one of these days), go back to this day when you felt all nervous and all excited why you BELIEVED Nursing was (IS) for you... and you'll come back full circle. :)

Good luck!

I hope you guys all know that when you get the IDPH nurse scholarship they choose where u work when u graduate! some of the areas are the worst ghettos on the southside of chicago and in rural areas away from the city. If you decline or so not work the number of yrs u promised then u will have to pay every cent back, including interest

Where did you get that information? I remember reading about that a couple years ago, but on the website and application it only says you have to work in Illinois providing direct patient care. It doesn't specify a location.

Well their obviously not going to tell you where your going to work, it is a different location for everybody; some might work in the ghetto, some might work in the middle of nowhere and others in very poor neighborhoods. I am in nursing school and a lot of people have gotten this scholarship and did not know of this info until our advisors let us know in our clinical meeting. For every year you take money from this scholarship, you owe them back a year (full time) of work where ever they decide to put you. If you do not comply with thier standards you have to pay them back every cent of the scholarship including interest.

Wow I can't believe they don't make that obvious on the website where it explains the rules and procedure. I'm going to call them and ask. Thanks
