Loyola University 2013 PCT student nurse
Thanks for responding! Lmbo at your post! You are definitely correct regarding the pay for techs...it has increased but only to 12.50 per hour. I was surprised as well when they offered me the position. I was going to take it anyway just to gain some experience, however i had to declinenit because their orientation for techs is 2 weeks straight and I attend a Chamberlain which is a all year round BSN program so I couldnt take the time out from school. I'm a little bummed about this. So my search continues...thanks again :-)

Loyola University 2013 PCT student nurse
Hello, I was just wondering if there was anyone out there who has applied for a student nurse position at Loyola? After applying to about a dozen student nurse positions, Loyola was the only one that called me back today! I am excited and nervous about my interview next week. My clinical instructor told me that working as a student nurse is a good way to get your foot in the door after graduation and I definitely do not want to blow it!! Has anyone worked here as a PCT before? What about other student nurse programs? Anyone have any look with getting into other hospitals?

LPN working as a CNA while in a BSN program?
Hello all, I am a currently a LPN who is completing my BSN in Chicago. I know that people who are already working in a hospital have a better chance at finding employment at their facility upon graduation. Knowing this, I feel as if im at a disadvantage because hospitals rarely hire LPN's. I currently workn in home health and have worked in LTC. These are not areas I want to work after graduation. Im willing to step back and work as a CNA while in school to get my foot in the door at a hospital, (ive worked as one before I became an LPN) but no one seems to call me back when I apply. Do you think that hospitals will not hire me as a CNA because im an LPN? I can't omit that info from my app because once they look me up in the IDPH nurse aide registry both professions come up.....hmmm frustrated! Suggestions please!!!

northwestern institute of health
Hi all I had been meaning to respond to some of the posts regarding the scholarship but i have been so busy with work. I am a recent graduate and recepient of this scholarship and currently working out my obligation so here are the facts: It is incorrect info that IDPH chooses where you work...you can work ANYWHERE in ILLINOIS as long as it involves direct patient care because IL period is considered an area of complete nursing shortage. Secondly how many checks you recieved during the course of school determines how long you have to work for repayment...for example i was awarded 3 thus i have to work 18 months full time or 36 months part time (6 months fulltime or 1 year part time for each check received) Also, all you have to do is have your employer fill out this verification form stating that you have been employed for the allotted amount of time under the contract. Thats it thats all....Hopes this clears up any confusion!!!!

ISU lpn-bsn online program?
Thanks so much for your reponse!!! I just got licensed as a LPN so next step is BSN. I agree that ISU has a more reputable program considering that its approved in almost every state; however excelsior is not. I've spoken with multiple reps from ISU and college network so I am going to give it a try. Furthermore, I too have a great mentor from my LPN program who states she is more than willing to help me transition if I have any problems. So best of luck to us both!

pharmacology
hello, i was wonderin if anyone who has taken or taking pharmacology at a more organized school than mine....lol can tell me what are some of the most common drugs to focus on remembering. i asked my instructor but she was not very detailed just said it will not be on every drug in the book just the most common ones. This course only goes for 4 weeks and im going into week 2 and there are a million drugs!! I just dont wanna be blindsided and fail out. ive been doing very good so far considering my school has no organization and alot of concepts i am left to self teach and study on my own. Any suggestions??????

nortwestern institute..lpn?
I currently attend this school and its kinda disorganized, and some of the teachers make you wonder should they be teaching but overall nursing school is what YOU make of it no matter where you attend. Ive heard some of these same complaints from my friends who attended other schools. So whatever school you choose stay focused, motivated and study, study, study!!!!!

Need inspiration.... FRUSTRATED and loosing hope
I just finished my A&P ! and end up passing with a C but barely. I totally understand what you are feelin i aced all of my teachers quizzes and critical thinking questions, however when it comes to her tests i barely passed. I failed my final friday but i had an A average prior to it so it brought me down to a C. I'm very worried cause i studied like crazy and like you i feel as if i knew the material back and forth and still failed was very frustrating to me. This same teacher also teaches A&P 2 so i have to go through this anxiety thing all over again. I'm looking for different ways to possiblity study this time. i think i'll try the flash card thing and see if that helps. I also kept copies of my old tests so i can review them to hopefully try to grasp her "question style" so i can try to ask myself mock questions while studying. I just keep thinking four more weeks with this teacher. We have a week off so i'm going to review the next two chapters in advance..hopefully this helps me. I'm determined not to fail and neither should you. We have come too far!! Good luck!

Study tips for new module?
Thanks but i stated already that i do have a flash drive and i study actually up to four hours per day, take notes from the book in addition to studying her slides. It's against school policy to record teachers lectures. Any other methods of study????

Study tips for new module?
Well her quizzes are straight to the point so its easy. But her unit exams/ final is set up totally different. Her questions are designed to trick you. She lectures from her powerpoint slides and some aspects that she lectures does not be the same info thats in the book so its contradicting. So people who don't have computers or flash drives that weren't able to copy her lectures really were struggling. It's impossible to take the notes as she lectures because she goes so fast that u really don't have time to write the info down right then cause shes changing the slide. We tried to tell her to slow down, but speaking to students that are ahead of me they all say she's like that and the toughest teacher of the program. She states she tries to help us out by giving us "what to study" cause she doesn't expect us to grasp entire chapters in so little time (11 chapters in 3 weeks) but when I study just that i end up seeing questions on the test that were not even in the range of what she told us to focus on. We study the main points and she puts the tedious info on the exams. I don't know i'm thinking about just studying the entire chapter top to bottom even though she tells us not to. We have a week off before the start of A&P 2 and i copied her lectures from that course too so i think i'll try to give myself a head start during this next week. I'm frustrated but determined- i've come too far to fail now!!!!

Study tips for new module?
Well i passed my first module of A& P but i'm not very excited about it. At this point i'm actually very confused on what to do as far as studying for the next part. I failed my final exam which was 40% of my grade:cry: Whats frustrating is that i really studied hard for this exam!!! I studied overall four extra hours a day in addition to class and still bombed out. The only thing that keep me from failing the course is the fact that i already had a '"A" average prior to the final exam so it average me out to a high "C" or 78. I passed all of my quizzes with flying colors but my teachers unit exams i have never scored higher than a C. It bothers me because what do i do next to try to do better this next module? My boyfriend says i should be thankful considering that there were a few who didn't pass but i can't help it. If i read, take notes, study the teachers powerpoint lectures, and try to test myself, and still score low- what other methods of study can i use to help me do better?????
