Northern CA - New Grad RN Programs???

U.S.A. California

Published

I'm a new grad RN from the SF Bay Area in Northern CA.

Has anyone heard of Kaiser Permanente having a New Grad RN Program this summer 2010?

What other New Grad RN programs can I apply for, considering the programs that I do know of have either already started, or have stopped accepting applications? I would be willing to consider programs statewide, not just limited to Bay Area/Northern CA.

Also, if you're one of the lucky ones to have been selected for New Grad Programs, got any tips on what we can expect? Any info would be AWESOME info  Thank You.

I had heard Kaiser cancelled all new grad programs through this year? I would go on indeed.com and type in " new grad" and see how many jobs show up. Good luck

I know the Kaiser Permanentes in Southern Cali are not hiring very many new grads and are sticking to internal candidates only for now. Im not sure if it is the same up in Northern Cali, but it could be!

I've been to a couple panel interviews. There are the basic questions like why nursing, what are your strengths/weaknesses, then you will get a priority question as in which pt will you see first, and then usually a couple scenario questions -- obvious ones tho -- like a pt has SOB what do you do?

Good luck on your journey.

Kaiser is not hiring New Grads at this time. They will not even interview you unless you have one year ACUTE experience (6 months for Med/Surg). It must be recent and in the same specialty you are applying for. If you have 11 months experience, they will not consider you. If it is SNF or psych experience it does not count. Even then you will be competing with many, many applicants.

KP might have new grad program this year in SoCal

Has anyone applied for and had an interview for the training program at Alta Bates Labor and Delivery unit starting March 2011? How did it go? Just curious.

Dear Rizzles, are you an RN? U working? Nursepenelope.

nursepenelope,

I'm not currently working. I am, like yourself, a BSN. I also have a B.A. in Psychology, worked at Kaiser Richmond for 6 months as a nursing student intern, interned with medical social services (as a psychology field placement), participated in the Transition to Practice program and worked over 200 hours as a RN at Kaiser Vallejo Tele/Step-Down, and have both BLS and ACLS. I still have yet to find a job.

Hi NursePenelope.

I applied to the Alta Bates LAbor and Delivery program for March 2011.. Did you apply as well?

RIZZERS,

Hi, I'm currently in the T2P program at Samuel Merritt and placed in Kaiser Vallejo. The program just barely started so I was wondering how your experience was and can you tell me about the difficulty of landing a job there since you basically worked there for free? Thank you!! I really need some guidance to if this is really all worth it!
