Good Afternoon,
I wanted to see if others have heard anything from Northeastern University (MA) regarding traditional direct entry program that starts September 2014. Has anyone heard about an interview? Just wanted to get a conversation going!
Look forward to hearing from others!
Thanks for the info! I saw two different per-credit costs for the Master's program. Is anyone else definitely going to Northeastern? I know we have a small cohort, so it would be great to touch base with anyone who is planning to attend next year!
I think I am probably going to choose Northeastern, just based on the fact that its such a small cohort and they emphasize and value RN work experience. I've ruled out Columbia based on cost and BC because they dont award a BSN. MGH is still kind of in the next, but I think the opportunity to work after the BSN portion is going to make the most sense for me. How did you decide between MGH and NEU Britt8486? I am still waiting to hear from Johns Hopkins and Columbia but at this point I think NEU is my top choice (I'd be going for AG Primary Care)
I too like that Northeastern emphasizes experiential learning. Plus, I like that they award the BSN/RN after 16 months, rather than at the end of the program. I think it will be beneficial to be able to work as an RN to gain experience, as well as have an income! I'm doing the neonatal track, which isn't offered at MGH. I also have heard negative things about the atmosphere at MGH - that it tends to be more competitive and that many students are "cut-throat". It may have something to do with it being a larger program? I have a close friend in the Northeastern program and she loves it. It's definitely very rigorous, but they have an excellent reputation in area hospitals. Plus (and I don't know if this even matters), I like that Northeastern is a "real" university.
I have yet to formally accept (I haven't received the paperwork yet -- just the phone call). I'm nervous about making it official -- such a big decision!
I'm still waiting to hear from Hopkins, as well, but as I want to be in Boston, I don't think I would choose their program over either Northeastern or MGH.

To answer your question about tuition, this year tuition for the BSN portion is $14,640 a semester so the total is $58,560 for the first 4 semesters. For the Master's portion of the program it is $1210 a credit hour and you will take between 41-45 credits during the Master's portion of the program. During the time between the BSN and Master's program you will be out working on co-op and will not be paying tuition but will keep your student status.
The information for the tuition for the first 16 months is listed under Direct Entry Nursing On-ground (per term) on this website http://www.northeastern.edu/financialaid/studentaccounts/tuition.html
