Does anyone have any inside information/opinions about this program. I was just offered an interview and I am very excited about it, but I would love if anyone could tell me anything about it if they went through the program themselves or heard something about it.
thanks in advance!

Hi there...if you do a search on allnurses you'll come up with at least one thread about the fellowship...you can probably get some of your questions answered there...I went through their fellowship for the MICU at LIJ...it's a pretty extensive program.

Congrats Daniela! will u be at NS or LIJ? Starting in Oct? If you search for NSLIJ Fellowship, you'll find a few threads from the past year or two that helped me decide. PM if you have any questions.. good luck!
Hi Billythekid,
I've been reading your past posts.. they have been informative! I'll be in NS. My start date is next Monday. Any additional suggestions about the program?
Also, I am new to this website. I registered yesterday. What is PMing? I'm assuming private message; how do I do that? Thanks!!

The first 10-12 weeks are a combo of mostly classroom (crit care, policies on blood, etc), ECCO (essentials of CC orientation) that will mostly be done at home, two half days on the floor, and a half day in simulation lab. If you havent' taken ACLS, consider buying a update an updated one on eBay (~$30)... familiarize yourself w the algorithms for cardiac arrests, cva, MI... that'll give you a little advantage in the thought process of what the nextv step will likely be.. ESP during sim labs!

just wanted to hear an update on how you guys are doing at the fellowship program :) how intensive is it? do you like it there? are you at northshore or LIJ?
and also, do you get to choose which critical care unit to go into? or do they just place you anywhere?
during the interview process, they generally ask which hospital you prefer and/or what unit you are interested in. Be prepared to provide a quick (short) rationale for the unit you want.. did you extern in a similar unit? other nurse recommendation?
