Congrats to all of us that were accepted to the nursing program at either campus for Fall '06!!!!

I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!
Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:
Good luck to everyone!
Wow, I had to go back about ten pages to find this thread.
I'm in the full swing of things here in 3rd semester.
Just got done with the first test over Immunity and Immobility, what a crock of bull. There were people crying in the hallways- people that are A students and failed - failed badly.
I hope this isn't just the beginning for us......
I just want to graduate and take the NCLEX today!

Yikes that doesnt sound good! I have the same test tomorrow and am having so much trouble knowing what to study! Doesnt help that the tegrity recordings wont play and the notes are so unorganized - these teachers should take a class on page layout and formatting! Makes me crazy! Guess I'll stick to my NLCEX study books/questions.
I have already given my thoughts via email to someone in 3rd semester, but I'll put some thoughts here too.
El Centro's program is NOT designed to help you pass. It seems they pride themselves on seeing how many people can fail out.
Don't let them win.
3rd semester to me, was all about reading, reading, and more reading!!! I couldn't read the material enough! (I read it over between 3rd and 4th and it finally sunk in!!!)
I think I spent too much time doing NCLEX questions.
Try to limit yourself to a certain amount at the end of the day...don't go overboard, nor not do enough.
I squeaked by 3rd semester, but here I am .....GRADUATED, PASSED THE NCLEX WITH 75 QUESTIONS, AND WORKING AS AN RN!!!!!!!
Stay motivated, and be determined to finish! Let this test go, and start concentrating on the next one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Thank you fun----Your my idol!!!!!!!!
I know I can do it. It will be tough semester, but I am determined to graduate in May!
I have the Saunders book and CD, and several other NCLEX books. I didn't really read for the first test. I just read powerpoints and did questions. Not a help. I guess I'll try reading this time. It couldnt' hurt.
I guess I better get crackin.
Have a great weekend everyone- except Ike
Everyone did horribly on it? We had like 5 or 6 A's on it at NLC last semester. Who's teaching it now? Don't let it get to you....just hang in there and keep trudging! I'm becoming embroiled in a battle for a graduation ceremony, with or without their @sses. Many of us want a formal graduation and not a pinning, so we are going to plan one (at least for those of us who want it).
Catch you all later! Gotta go do management stuff and even study a little!

Really? I'd much rather have the traditional nurses' pinning ceremony. My grandmother had one, her sister, her daughter, two of my aunts.........you get the picture.
Y'all can go back in May to graduate. I know there was one girl in my line at graduation who did go back just for the graduation ceremony.
Alot of us want a real graduation ceremony just like people in other professions get without having to wait for 6 months. By then we'll be involved in our careers and in furthering our educations (for some of us) and the excitement of graduating is gone. It looks like we may just do our own thing and leave El Centro completely out of it...They can't dictate what we do on our own time with our own money. The bottom line is that they should leave it up to each class to decide. If 50 of us want a graduation and we are willing to plan it and pay for it, then we will.

Somebody told me that nobody dies in the OR...

Mysterious, L&D and PP are really different, indeed. I've never wanted to do L&D because it's critical care, as you wrote it's women's emergency.
I am sure you are learning a lot in L&D that you can use later if you decide to change specialty. Are you interested in going back to school? We have many midwives who deliver low risk moms.:bby:
