I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!
Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:
Good luck to everyone!
Allison, I wanted to congratulate on your achievement. :yelclap: It's awesome that you're ACLS certified and on your own in the ICU. Do you plan on getting BSN and CRNA, maybe?
Thank you Katie! That's so sweet. I am looking at CRNA at this point but I change my mind every day hahaha. I have all of my classes for BSN. I am just playing right now. I do plan on it in a year....I have to have that for CRNA plus 2 years ICU experience. the CRNA program is 20K and it's 28 months straight and they don't allow you to work so it's going to take some planning. Thank you for asking When do you plan on going back for BSN? I noticed you're taking pre-reqs already.
yea , it sure feels like it. I keep checking my email and my chunk mail everyday!!!!!!!!!I have been studying and already feel like I have forgotten so much. I am bookmarking so many questions,it's unreal. How is this happening?
The longer this goes on the more panicked I get.
:hngon:Everything is going to be okay. I studied my tail off for L&D and peds (my weakest) and didn't have a question one on either subject. It will be okay. You're very smart and you've survived nursing school. NCLEX is a drop in the hat after all of that.
I just hope I'm studying the correct way...mainly answering NCLEX practice questions like I did for the HESI.:uhoh21: I think I could read, read, read, but not much more will stick, so....NCLEX questions it is.....
I did about 3500 NCLEX questions and didn't read anything...I think it's more getting into the "way of thinking" for the NCLEX that's the important part. You are going to do so well on NCLEX. You'll plow through 75 questions in a 10 minutes and be like, "ok now what?" LOL. You're very smart and you're going to do very well.
OMG.....I hope you're pyschic!

I definitely agree with that. I was so burned out by the end of this semeseter, I think I'd be fried if I had to go right into 4th. I need a little recharge. Do you have a list of topics or anything for 4th so I can read ahead (after a little break...lol)? I think I remember hearing that there wasn't a reading list for 4th...A list of diseases or any chapters you can remember being helpful would be good...We have a link for psych 4th semester, but after the psych test, I'm just not up for that yet...lol.Yang
Some things I can think of off the top of my head that are covered in 4th semester:
MI's, cardiac tamponade, pedi congenital heart defects (like tetrology of fallot, VSD, PDA, Aortic Stenosis), ARDS, Chest tubes, most kinds of cancer, but especially lung, pancreas, breast (the main ones).........ummm...........Schizophrenia, Alzheimers, dementia, delerium, personality disorders, Myasthenia Gravis, Gullian Bairre, Lou Gehrig's (ALS), seizures, hyper/hypothyroidism, Renal failure, Liver failure, Burns, Cushings, Graves Dz, Diabetes Insipidus, SIADH.....
No real order above, but you can read any and all and make notes during the summer. :)
The test order is:
Cancer
Endocrine/Burns/Renal/Liver
Psych
Cardio/Resp
Neuro

I am planning on starting my BSN at TWU, fall 2009. I have found out that I could also do a minor in psych there so now I am interested in doing that, too. After that I could see myself doing a NP program. Can't wait to go back to nursing school.
Forgot to add....use the HESI book to study out of in addition to the other sources.
Katie, I'm ready to start for the BSN also, but that'll definitely have to wait 6 months...when the hospital will pay me back! haha Actually, I think I'll have my hands full learning OR procedures for a while.
Good luck to you when you do go back! I think I want UT Tyler's online program.
