Good luck to everyone!
Thanks for the info! Well, I have had an amazing 3 days at Mrs. Beecham's Wintermester clinical. I hung 6 IVPBs, gave 6 sq injections, I don't know how many PO's, 2 ophthalmics, 2 tube feedings via peg, and 3 meds through the peg - 2 bandage changes, and trach care - ant that was just today! I had 3 patients, stayed caught up, and even got to eat lunch! Talk about helping my confidence!

OK Thanks!!! I have a time set-up tomorrow in Carrollton for it - just wanted to make sure it wasn't a waste.

How exciting for you! I heard it was a good thing to do, but I just didn't have the extra cash during the summer, or this Christmas break...and last Christmas we went on vacation to Florida.
We started out with 2 patients with Ms. P, moved to three, and on the last day, I took 4 patients. (No pre-clinical paperwork does wonders, that's the only way I was able to take 4...lol.)
Yep - if I'd had to do careplans and crap, there'd have been no way. She checked me off once on oral meds via NG tube, 1 tube feeding, 1 injection, and twice on IVPB - after that, I'm on my own....call her if I need her or get something new. We're even able to try phelbotomy if the opportunity arises, as well as IV starts. I'm eagerly awaiting that opportunity!

http://enw.org/IVStarts.htm ...found this site interesting.
I "LOVE" starting IVs! :) (Of course, phlebotomy was my favorite part of being a medical assistant too. ...lol)
I guess it's the challenge and feeling of getting the vein on the first try with the pt barely noticing you stuck them!
(Did you happen to use my IVPB Administration sheet? I was just wondering if it was listed correctly. So, if not, if anyone does, please let me know....and if it was helpful for anyone!)
[banana]TO STAY AT TERRELL, OR NOT...[/banana]
[banana]THAT IS THE QUESTION!?!?!?![/banana]
Yes, stay at Terrell...
- if it's okay with your family,
- if you live far-far away from Terrell,
- if you like most of your clinical classmates (2-3 people per room),
- if you are up to some fun going out to the 'city' to eat, buy stuff, etc,
- if you don't mind sleeping in the geri patients' building (doors are locked between quarters).
I stayed there because it saved time, gas money, and was fun.

Ok......be true....how was the experience at Terrell????
We had our orientation yesterday and was able to orient ourselves to the floor we will be on......I was totally terrified. I guess due to not knowing the unknown. I know now what to expect on Thursday and Friday of this week(as far as patients)...but what are we suppose to do alllllll day????

You know what, I think Ms. P provided them if I remember correctly.
Y'all have Ms. P for clinical, so you may not need the forms.
