I'm going to be applying for the program in January of 2014 once my Anatomy grade goes through. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything more about this new MANE curriculum they're implementing at the school? According to the new program, my 3.0 GPA for the prereque's plus whatever I get on the TEAS test will determine if I get accepted. How hard is it to usually get in there?
Also, I've been thinking about applying for the Normandale program as well. They're also using the MANE program. Do people usually apply to more than one program? Would it be a good idea to apple to both?
Thanks in advance.
Hey Carley ^^. Long time NHCC student here. I'm applying to 4 colleges, NHCC, Anoka-Ramsey, Inver Hills, and Century. NHCC night program is the first choice. Scored 78.3% on the TEAS and have a 3.5 GPA in core classes. Kinda sucks because I have every single prerequisite done and now they changed up the entrance criteria. Was also sick the day of the TEAS which definitely affected the score! Sitting at an 11.3 overall, hopefully it's enough, what do you think? Score said 86th percentile. So, that's top 14 percent, if there's 300 applicants, would be in top 42 then probably (without counting GPA). Only two people I know at NHCC scored higher than that out of about 20 people who told me their scores, but one of them has a 2.75 and only scored 82% so my overall beats theirs. The other gentleman scored 90% but that's extremely rare and he scores 95-100% on every test, even in A&PII he did!! From what it sounds like, any score above 75% with a GPA of 3.5 or higher is competitive. If the GPA is 3.0, then applicant may need 80-85% to get in.... Would love to hear your thoughts..
Sounds like we're pretty similar in stats! I'm applying to all 5 which means gpa varies for each school as you would know. Thanks for sharing all that other info. I've done most of my prerequisites down here in AZ so I've not talked with anyone to compare teas scores besides people on here. I guess there is hope- here I kept thinking I've lost all chances.
How do you like NHCC?!
Hi guys, I took my 1st teas test on Saturday. I scored a 78.7% 'Advanced' overall. It says I'm in the 87% overall rank for the program...whatever that means. In the science section 93% ranking for the program and 87% for the math section. Not sure what all of that means, but we will see I guess. I do have to say I'm disappointed with my 78.7% as I thought I would have done better. The English/Grammar section really brought my score down...Even though I have an 'A' in English :) Now I don't have the opportunity to take it again as I would have to wait 4 weeks...and application deadline is Feb. 1st. My GPA for the admission classes is 3.75. So I guess I'm sitting at 11.62 for my admission score. I'm only applying at Anoka-Ramsey.
I don't know what you guys have heard from others, but I've heard as many as 800 people may be applying to the program here. I've heard a lot of people are applying to multiple schools and even some that would have tried to get in at 4 year universities are now apply at the C.C's because now they are offering a BSN program. Maybe this is just people talking, but it's kind of discouraging. Has anyone talked to any advisers to see what they are saying/thinking?
I know from my own experience, I've asked about 6 students in my microbiology class what their score have been on the teas, and they've said they've scored between 81-87%...and one other scored 73%. I asked the woman administering the test at my site, and she said she has administered almost all of the tests at that site and the has only seen maybe 4-5 90%+ scores out of all the people testing; most are between 60-70%. However, I find this hard to believe too since the ONLY six people I'd asked about their scores were in the 81-87%. Anyway, she told me my score was very good compared to what she's seen.
Have any of you guys asked around to what other people have scored on the teas? Or any ideas on how many people may really be applying to the programs?

I don't know how many people are applying but I'm sure a lot are applying to more than one mane school so that'll knock a bunch of numbers off. We will see! We hear back mid April right?
Im feeling super deflaited! I scored a 73.3% on my TEAS V and it was the last time I could take it. I am coming in with a 3.4 GPA so that brings my total points in at a 10.7! I've been hearing that you need at least an 11 to be considered "competitive". If I don't get in this coming application period I am going to have to retake some of the pre-reque classes in order to bring my application closer to 11 points.
Im applying to 4 of the MANE programs with North Hennepin-Night program being my first choice since I have to work. I guess we will see!
Don't get discouraged. I was feeling the same way too. Then I talked with an adviser yesterday and she told me there is no 'magic number' for this program as it is new for everyone. She also told me that the 800 number I was hearing for applicants may be the number of people who have actually taken the teas vs. those applying to the program. Some people are just taking it to see where they stand even though they're not eligible to apply to the program yet. Also, she told me that every year that she's been at the college (10+ years) , about 25% of all applicants are not actually eligible to apply, but apply anyway. So that will reduce the numbers significantly. We just have to wait and see. At least we don't have to wait too long. The letters are sent out middle of March vs. May/June or something. We can't give up :)
Don't feel deflated. I used to take everything on this forum so seriously and felt the same way. I'm not saying people are lying it's just so easy to fall into the comparison trap. None of us know for sure the outcome and especially since it's new. As bucketlist said we all hear these crazy numbers and no one really knows the facts yet. Keep your head up, it'll all work out!!Im feeling super deflaited! I scored a 73.3% on my TEAS V and it was the last time I could take it. I JUST got out of taking my TEAS for the second time and I'm happy to say I did better. I got a 72% my first time around and I got a 81.3% this second time. I'm going in with only a 3.0 GPA so my overall is a 11.13. I hope that's good enough. As far as there being 800 applicants, I'm not sure how accurate that is because I went to an info session at Inver Hills last week and the woman told me they accept 50 students and only had 60 applicants at that time.

Good Job! That's a huge improvement! Wow that's a huge difference in numbers for applicants. Well maybe 61 now cause mine just got there To be honest I have no idea where Inver Hills CC even is...

Anyone else applying to mane schools for fall 2014?!
