North Hennepin Community College program?

Published

I'm going to be applying for the program in January of 2014 once my Anatomy grade goes through. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything more about this new MANE curriculum they're implementing at the school? According to the new program, my 3.0 GPA for the prereque's plus whatever I get on the TEAS test will determine if I get accepted. How hard is it to usually get in there?

Also, I've been thinking about applying for the Normandale program as well. They're also using the MANE program. Do people usually apply to more than one program? Would it be a good idea to apple to both?

Thanks in advance.

It looks like they've updated some information on the MANE curriculum at least on Century College's website. Their selection criteria is based upon the first semester of the MANE plan so the classes would be; interpersonal or intercultural communication, general biology, general chemistry and psychology 101. They take that GPA and add it to your MANE score divided by 10.

It's a little shocking to me that they take those classes versus the core sciences like anatomy and physiology and microbiology. I'll be applying to all of the twin cities schools for next fall too. Good luck and if you find anything I'd love to hear it!

I agree with the what the previous poster said. And yes I definitely would apply to as many as you can. This new program makes it seem a little harder to get in. It was hard before. Now it seems almost nearly impossible. It is so frustrating. Good luck to both of you. And remember if at first you do not succeed keep trying and be persistent.

good luck! I graduate from St. Kates in December but remember how hard it was getting in when I was applying... 3.0 is going to be tricky (in my opinion) because I know people on the wait list with very high GPAs but it's not with the new system.

I am also hoping to apply here for Fall 2014 under the new MANE curriculum. Has anyone taken the TEAS V exam yet??? I am not happy with my results and am wondering if there is a minimum score to be considered.

I just took the TEAS V this past weekend and without preparing for it got above the program and national average. I'm taking it again at the end of January. I emailed the nursing advisor at NHCC asking the same thing about a minimum for it and she said there is none. They add your GPA to your TEAS V score. So a 3.0 GPA is 3 points and a 82% on the TEAS would be a 8.2 so your score would be 11.2 then they pit everyone is order and accept a certain amount

I took the teas v a while ago. I'm retaking In a few days. The study manual from ati is great!

I wish there was some sort of average they could share so we knew where we stood but considering it's the first year... Good luck with your apps!

I'm curious, what did you get on your TEAS?

First time I got 79% Adjusted Individual Total Score. This was with studying for maybe total of 10 hours aka looking over the book.

I got a 99% Nationally on Math and Science but Reading and English KILLED me!!! I'm retaking it tomorrow so we'll see.

I was the total opposite! I did awesome on the English and Reading and the Science and Math brought me down.

Good luck!

Thank you Virgo!
