North Carolina Roll Call

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Ok folks - it is that time again .... there are many new names and faces (well avatars anyway) on our web site ... time to get to know the North Carolina people.

Lets give a location - why you are there, your current nursing status and anything else you might want to share ....

I am Patrick, the moderator for the North Carolina Forum ... live in Asheville - moved here a year ago from Florida and love the mountains and the moderate climate .... can tell you that Hurricane Frances breezed through town last week and gave us a lot of headaches! Anyway, I am a nurse manager for a med-surg unit and a single father of 3. I attend the University of Phoenix and am hoping to graduate with my BSN-MSN in the very near future. :coollook:

Live in WV, have active NC license but job did not work out for the me there. I guess God knew I needed to be here. Love Mt Airy area, most like home. Asheville is pretty but costly. Have a great day.

I guess we do a lot of that here in hawaii.......barefooting

I hear WV is very nice as well. I wooked up Mt Airy and it looks vey interesting.

Hope this message finds you healthy and happy in the place you were meant to be.............take care and thanks for the

message........................

It's nice way past Asheville! I'm 100 miles from Atlanta and Asheville in the country. It's rural but, it's home...for now. Nothing takes the place of family so, as much as I loved Hawaii and would love to return, as long as my dad is still around, I'll be in NC. Housing is mo betta here LOL. So are the schools. But, you'll miss Zippys.

I get my coffee and cracked seeds sent. Never knew I was a coffee snob until I moved back! Still get all the Hawaiiana I can by shopping online. I do miss the beach and the aloha but, I love the public schools here. I've been trying to talk my Hawaiian born daughter into getting a volleyball scholarship to UH but no such luck-yet! She is Hapa and looks really exotic here in rural NC. She loves it here so, we'll stay, until...

I am with you, I love Kauai. If I could live anywhere in the world, Kauai would be in my top 3!

Good luck on your journey to the mainland!

I do think sometimes that wanting is better than having though. I work 40+ hours and don't get to those beautiful warm beaches. My daughter is 14 and loves to swim, but hates the schools, even here in Hawaii Kai. She houlie you know, Yeah? She is in the #2 top schools in all of hawaii and that does'nt really say much. middle school and high school Education is not what you come to hawaii for. Humidity is lower than NC but very few homes have air conditioning. It is called "trade winds" and when they die........no wind.

I will miss zippys.......love my seaweed and mochi popcorn. The intro to all the movies with the hawaiian theme is wonderful and the plumeria flower in my hair each friday is a must.

yes, I am looking forward to the mo better housing and schools. I have been living out of boxes for 2 years now and can not wait for all that square footage. I wonder if I will ever be able to talk "normal" again though. You know how you become at one with the surroundings. It must sound as goofy to others as it sounded to me when I first arived, yeah?.......LOL

Your daughter must be beautiful. I am thrilled that you all are enjoying it there, wish you the best, mahalo and aloha

Hi everyone! I'm in the beautiful Piedmont Triad area and I'm currently on maternity leave from my weekend option RN position in the Neurosurgery ICU at a Level I Trauma Center. I'm seriously thinking of switching to OB nursing though, because I enjoyed having this baby so much and thought my nursing care was great!

We've lived in NC for two years after moving from Lexington, KY (I saw someone on here with the UK avatar - both DH and I are UK grads). We love it here and plan on staying with our 2 boys, 2 cats, and incredibly lazy dog.

Cheers,

Elena

Specializes in Cath Lab, OR, CPHN/SN, ER.

Also in Greenville, for now at least. In ADN program, graduate in May (May 10th to be exact!). Not sure where I will go from there...I will either stay here, go to Hickory (close to parents), Charlotte or Wilmington. I'll keep you updated as to where I end up in the state. -Andrea

Specializes in ER (My favorite), NICU, Hospice.

I have always lived here in mayberry. I would like to move to a big city in a few years. It is just a little country town, thats why I would like to try somewhere different to live. Nice meeting you.

so what made you decide on mayberry? Were you in another area of NC before you moved there? I love the small home style feels of some towns, but want to be in an area that keeps a open mind to all the different types of people that we have in this beautiful world of ours..........

To mushy HuH?...........sorry..........guess being from the land of fruits and nuts in california and from the melting pot in hawaii, I have this love one another mentality.

Thanks for the introduction and info on a different NC........

Hello all, I live near Wilmington NC in a little place called Kelly. I just graduated LPN school at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, and passed the NCLEX a few weeks ago. I'm now looking for my first nursing job!!! I'm primarily looking in and around the Raleigh area (time for a change of scenery). A friend of mine from class told me about this website and since I've been here, I've thoroughly enjoyed it!

Specializes in MICU, SICU, CICU.

Hey everyone, It's nice to hear from fellow tarheels!!! I live in Sanford and I work in Durham at DUKE (go devils:p ). Again I think I am the youngest RN in the state at 20. Anyway nice to know there is an NC forum.

How do you like PCMH? Just moved here from Canada and got a house in Winterville. Would like any info about the area and the hospital.

Thanks
