I've heard people use the NCLEX books throughout the program because it helps them get use to the style of questions. I just bought the Saunders NCLEX PN and think I'm going to get the prioritization and delegation book also. I think that's by Mosby. I'm also going to get this nursing clipboard that folds in half and has cheat sheets like lab values and injection sites on the outside. It looked pretty neat.

7237dallas - I have also heard of people buying the NCLEX-PN book to use during school and have heard that it has helped them out a ton. I definitely plan on purchasing one for myself as well. I will also look into the book you mentioned, the prioritizing and delegation. I can use all the study/learning tools I can get my hands on, lol. I definitely want to be prepared and successful. I haven't heard of the nursing clipboard though, sounds like a good idea. Can I get that at any store or do you have to purchase it somewhere special?

Are you in school now or are you getting ready to start soon?

If your school doesn't supply you with one then def get an nclex book. I loved my green Saunders Comprehensive PN book there is a more updated one and the NCLEX Incredibly made easy PN book which had a ton of questions that you could practice from and broken up by subjects

I heard that the prioritization Delegating book was good as well but I think it might be more geared towards RNs I would check that out before buying.

I've heard the prioritization book is helpful for both LPN and RN because it helps prioritize the duties of care and which things you should do first to help answer the select all that apply questions on the NCLEX exams. I would just google nurse clipboards and it'll come up. Amazon has them but they were $10 more expensive than on the regular website which I can't think of at the moment. I know it has MD in it though. I start my program in August:) I did get my NCLEX book today so I can't wait to skim through it when I get home! You can also youtube nursing school videos that's where I found a video with the clipboard.

I purchased the Saunders NCLEX - PN and have been reading that to get myself familiar with the format that all the quizzes will be based off of. ( from what I hear)It can only help to prepare you to start thinking critically:) I also have found numerous Qbank apps available and I started doing those regularly. I start in the fall- it's making me anxious!

I am aghast that the "nursing" version of the clipboard on Amazon is PINK. Bright, glaring PINK. The non-nursing versions are white or aluminum. Getting patients and the public to take us seriously is difficult enough without having to carry around something an eighth grade girl would coo over. Luckily the decorative glitter and unicorn stickers are sold separately.

I bought a med calculations chart from amazon for $5 that has normal values, I've drop rates and all the math on it. It's laminated and fits in my compartment clipboard that I bought at Walmart for $3.

Yes that's the one. This is it inside my clipboard.

I can fit paper and pens inside and it latches closed. I used it for home care as an LNA and could hold 8-10 care plans inside plus my paperwork. Works great and it was less than $5. I let my kids decorate the outside with stickers and pictures :)
